Version 1.4.0 was the fouth major content patch released after Version 1.0. It was released to the unstable branch on April 23rd, 2019 for testing [1] and released to the stable version of the game on June 13, 2019 [2] .
The primary features introduced in this patch were Bounty Hunting, which included new capture mechanics for criminals, police stations locations, events, and a series of quests, Elemental monster variants, and a new dungeon & new boss.
The update was first teased in late 2017, then put on hold for almost a year while design was re-assessed and other development was prioritized. [3]
It was announced and changes were detailed on the developer blog shortly after unstable release. [4] The full patch notes were shared on the developer blog upon its release. [5]

Bounty Hunting
- New procedurally-generated quests that see the player travel to worlds and into space, hunting down criminal gangs
- New Peacekeeper stations for bounty hunters – work your way through promotions and restore law in the universe
- Take the fight to criminal gangs at their hideouts, including a climatic final mission & boss fight!
- New quests: Becoming a Peacekeeper, Rookie Assignment, Rising through the Ranks, The Good Fight, Keeping the Peace, Going after the Occasus
- New generated bounty quests

New Music
- Four new music tracks by Starbound composer Curtis Schweitzer
Elemental Monsters
New Elemental Monster variants. They are capturable, and earn progress in a new Collection - the Rare Monster collection.

Bounty Hunter Update
In our latest update take on the role of an intergalactic bounty hunter, taking on new quests to track down wanted criminal gangs and following clues to discover their hideouts.
Rise up through the Peacekeeper ranks to ultimately restore law and order in the universe! When cornered some criminals may even offer treasure or rewards as a bribe - it’s up to the player to decide how strictly they’ll uphold the law!
There are over 50 new ‘rare colored’ variant monsters which can be captured, and a variety of other new content including furniture, armor, tenants and more!

Starbound has been built from the ground up to be multiplayer and easily moddable. You have the tools to make the universe your own and modify the game to suit your play style - add new items, races, planet types, dungeons, and quests - the possibilities are limitless.

Starbound 1.4 – обновление «Охотник за головами» [Нестабильная ветка]

Обновление 1.4 для Старбаунда уже выложили для тестирования на Нестабильную ветку в Steam. Обновление включает в себя систему охоты за головами, но полного списка изменений пока нет, его выложат, когда обновление будет готово, что должно случиться уже в скором времени.
Имейте в виду, что версия на нестабильной ветке является своего рода очень ранней бета версией обновления и в ней может отсутствовать какой-то контент или попадаться баги. Если вы всё же хотите опробовать обновление уже сейчас, то сделать это можно установив "Starbound - Unstable" в библиотеке Steam. Рекомендуется начать игру новым персонажем.
