These steps can resolve many problems with crashing and errors.

Close and restart Steam.
As of December 2018, an updated launcher is used. Some of these workarounds may no longer work.

This is usually caused by antivirus software stopping the Steam client from downloading the game. Temporarily disable your antivirus and try downloading the game again. Be sure to turn it back on once the game is installed.

Another possible cause is trouble connecting to Steam's download server. In Steam settings, change your download region and try the download again.

If the launcher will not allow you to run DirectX 10/11 Mode on Windows 7 stating that it requires SP2, you are probably running either Steam or Civilization V in compatibility mode. Find your Steam shortcut (or the Steam.exe file), right-click it, and made sure the compatibility settings are disabled. Do the same for the CivilizationV.exe, CivilizationVdx11.exe, and launcher.exe files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\sid meier's civilization v\ (if installed on C:).

Civilization V requires the latest drivers. There have been issues with older drivers causing odd graphics bugs. Updating your graphics drivers should fix these.

If troubleshooting does not work, you can remove all of the game files and attempt to reinstall. These steps are for Windows. The file locations are different on Mac.
- Go to Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\ and make a backup for the saves folder if you want to keep your saved games.
- In Steam, right-click on Sid Meier's Civilization V and select "Delete Local Content"
- Delete everything in Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\
- Delete everything in Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\sid meier's civilization v\
- Close Steam and restart your computer.
- Reinstall Civilization V with Steam.

5 янв. 2014 в 21:30 [РЕШЕНИЕ] не работает, не запускается, вылетает при запуске, не отвечает Sid Meier's Civilization V Brave New World (BNW).Всем страждущим привет. После обновления игры до BNW возникла проблема с запуском игры после выбора директикса 9, 10\11 или тач мода для 8 винды. Проблема выражалась в том, что после выбора директикса игра либо вообще не запускалась и пропадала из процессов, либо доходила до загрузочного экрана и благополучно крашилась. Пытался кэшировать файлы (вывод: игра ок на 100%), пробовал обновлять дрова, переустановил игру, изменял язык на англ. и наоборот, гуглил, прочёл уйму тем на этом форуме, перекрестился, посмотрел фильм и поиграл в батлу. Но ничего так и не помогло. Потом решил покопаться в конфиге директикса игры и вышли положительные сдвиги, но не до конца, игра всё равно не хотела нормально работать. Решив удалить полностью папку, чтоб стим сам докачал заново файлы после запуска тоже не увенчались успехом, после чего попросил друга (у которого игра работает нормально) скинуть мне вообще всю папку цивилки из моих документов и о счастье - игра стабильно заработала.

Решение проблемы:
Мой вариант:
1. Пройти в "C:\Users\Exzest\Documents\my games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5" (естественно скорее всего имя пользователя у вас другое).
2. Удалить всё содержимое. Сейвы, моды, карты, скрины, реплеи можете переместить в другую директорию до первого удачного запуска игры и при необходимости потом закинуть обратно.
3. Закинуть в "C:\Users\Exzest\Documents\my games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5" файлы с архива yadi . sk/d/78W63LHoFWruG (удалить пробелы перед и после ".") или попросить друга у которого игра работает нормально, чтоб он скинул файлы.
Ещё один мой совет, который помог в других играх:
Файл библиотеки msvcr100.dll, а также: msvcp110, msvcp100, msvcr120, msvcp120 или msvcr110 был не найден.
Качаем Microsoft Visual C++ **** (где звёздочки - это год) с официального сайта микромягких и устанавливаем поверх старой версии, но не удаляя старую, а восстанавливая.
Все мои попытки замены файла с интернета, переустановки\удаления софтины, удаления самого файла с последующей переустановкой мне не помогли.
Дважды сталиквался с такой проблемой и помогло только "восстановить распространяемые части. " в меню установки.

Удалить все файлы из "G:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V" с названием "Civ5_Opening_Movie_**_**.wmv.
Проще говоря: удалите вступительные ролики, но они у меня присутствуют.

Что бы переустановить DirectX игры нужно зайти в папку с игрой:
Ваш_путь_к папке_стема\Steam\SteamApps\common\sid meier's civilization v\DirectX
и запустить DXSetup.exe

Решил свою проблему сам. У Sid Meier's Civilization V с Windows 10 конфликт в шрифтах а конкретней в шрифте Verdana который стоит по умолчанию в русской версии, достаточно сменить его на любой другой как проблема устраняется. Для того чтобы это сделать нужно зайти в [диск]:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\Gameplay\XML\NewText и там отредактировать файл Russian.xml. В этом файле нужно изменить строку с шрифтом <FontName>Verdana</FontName> на любой другой шрифт, например как я <FontName>Arial</FontName>

Удалил на ♥♥♥♥♥♥, папку с игрой и папку в "мои документы".
Перегрузил, установил с нуля и опа. пашет и в режиме таблетка и директ 10-11.

У меня Win10 x64 видеокарта GeForce стояла последняя версия драйвера, перепробовал все вышеперечисленное - не помогло.
1) Пытался решить через приложение dxcpl. Добавил ее в Edit List, перепробовал выбирать всевозможные версии DirectX, установил флаг Force WARP. Игра запустилась, но очень жутко тормозила и отображалась не на полный экран. ИГРА НЕ КРАШИЛАСЬ, но тормозила.
2) Удалил драйвера. Система установила старенькую версию драйверов 353.62. Запустил игру, изменил настройки. Игра больше не КРАШИТЬСЯ и не тормозит. При этом в приложении dxcpl очистил Edit List.

Народ, у кого игра вырубается при загрузке, нужно сделать следующее: зайдите в Библиотеку в steam, клацните на игру и в окошке ДОП. КОНТЕНТ нажмите на любую галочку из перечисленных дополнений и сразу поставьте её назад, при попытке запуска начнётся либо маленькое обновление либо сразу переустановка, времени займёт не много. Мне помогло, всё норм работает. Кстати перестала запускаться после переустановки винды.

Наткнулся на то что как одно из самых простых и примитивных решений, просто в стиме изменить язык игры, допустим на английский. А затем в документах\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\ и там будет файл "config.ini" там в строке "Language = " , поменять выбранный языка на "ru_RU". Таким образом, игра вроде на английском, но в то же время на русском. Но мне данное решение помогло и более чем устраивает, надеюсь мои методы здесь кому-то помогут, все добра и позитива.

В чём соль особо не понял. Но проблему решил. Устанавливаем в стиме, в свойстве игры русский язык. Далее копируем файлы: CIV5Credits_RU_RU.txt, Russian.xml, и папку RU_RU по адресу . \Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\Gameplay\XML\. И переносим в любую другую папку, в которой переименовываем их в: CIV5Credits_EN_US.txt, English.xml и папку в EN_US. Опять в свойствах игры в стиме меняем язык, на английский. И теперь переименованные файлы переносим обратно по выше указанному адресу с заменой. Должно всё работать и перевестись. Главное в настройках игры (в самой игре), в пункте выбора языка ничего не выбирать. Будет пустой слот. Если выберете русский. То игра опять начнёт крашиться.

For many people Civilization stopped working correctly after upgrading their OS to Windows 10.
As with many other Steam games for the vast majority of the games, this issue is simply resolved by one or two of these suggestions:
1) Verify your game files.
Open the Steam Client >> Right click on Civilization 5 >> Choose Properties
Go to the tab Local Files >> Click the button "Verify Integrity Of Game Cache. "
2) Update your graphics drivers to the Windows 10 version of them. Windows 10 doesn't always install those right away when upgrading.
If all else fails, delete the folder Sid Meiers Civilization 5 (it includes all your save games!) from My Documents/My Games
Then Delete All Local content by going into the Steam Client and right clicking Civilization 5.
After that, click the install button on the game, causing it to download again. When that is finished, start the game again.

An error occurred while attempting to launch application. 26 авг. 2015 в 7:28 I am Also having the same problem. I dont know any french nor russian seeing as i am studying German. From what I have heard from other sources online and on the steam community hub. Windows 10 does NOT support Civilization V with the BNW DLC but does support the stand alone game without DLC.
That's simply not true. There is no difference in support between the base game and any of the DLC.
Civilization 5 and all it's DLC is not officially supported on Windows 10.
It does however work perfectly fine in most cases. In other cases you need a bit of knowledge of your PC to get it to work. In those cases the upgrade process borked something.

After upgrading to win10 , i kept getting DX11 errors, tried a few technical things to no avail.
i was getting Event ID : 1000
Faulting application name: CivilizationV_DX11.exe, version: 1.0.3.279, time stamp: 0x546cd0a8
Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x5b6e150e

If you look in your game path "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\" you will notice a bunch of dx11 crash dumps.
I went back to troubleshooting the game settings.
1) Put it in windows mode.
2) Turned off Anti-Aliasing.
The game now runs using Directx 11 without crashing. i have been playing for a few hours now with no problems.
Probably just disabling Anti-Aliasing will do the trick but i havent tried it yet.

I Already try that multiple times. No effect what so ever. Any other suggestions?
21 окт. 2015 в 15:25 I had this same issue, but it seems to be related to the anti-aliasing on my graphics card. Once I turned of the anti-aliasing settings in the civ5 display settings, I haven't had a problem 23 окт. 2015 в 15:46 Already tried everything listed here. It seems to be dx11 problem tho, since i'm getting crash dumps on civ5 folder. Can anyone help me read what's inside the error files? 28 окт. 2015 в 12:08i simply resolved it by downgrading back to my previous OS (windows 7 pro in my case, can be done without reïnstalling within a month of an upgrade, it can be found in the windows update menu of config screen), having windows 10 for free is great and all, but it simply still has to many bugs outside its normal operations (by wich i mean annything non microsoft will simply either not work properly, or at all). I reccommend to stay clear of windows 10 for the next 6 months if you use your pc for for gaming (obviously that is about everyone here on steam) until more of the compatibility issues are resolved.
I did not do this downgrade lightly, as after my drivers were updated windows 10 began to decide day by day that another program was not legal and failed to execute it accordingly, including driver updates.
In the end only Civ Beyond earth and skyrim were still working on 10, but the rest of my games either failed to start or became (highly) unstable.
So my advice, downgrade back to your previous os if you still can, and wait. Nothing is worse then being used as a guineepig or test subject facing computerproblems when all you want is to game after a hard days work.
