The Wowhead Client is a little application we use to keep our database up to date, and to provide you with some nifty extra functionality on the website!

Spirit link totem and level scaling
This literally just happened to me in headless horseman. I’m a level 40-ish shaman, and used my Spirit Link totem on our tank dk. He dropped like wildfire. He had like 100k more max hp than I do, but the totem doesnt care. The totem tried to ”balance” our healthpool and ended up killing the tank in pretty much one tick.

Probably. I probably goes after fixed HP values, not after percentage based HP. Which, before scaling was introduced, was probably never a problem to begin with.
It definitely used to be percentage based.
The thing is just completely broken in what sounds like all scaled content actually.
I think the reason it kills higher lvl people is because it looks at how much hp the high lvl guy have if he was lower level. So if a tank has 100k as 120 and have to give 20k to the group, he would normaly end up on 80k. But translated to the shamans level the tank only have 10k, and the spirit link still takes 20k and the tank dies.
What exactly does spirit link totem do?
Does it mean that if it is used and a shaman is healing one person, the other people in its range get healed for the same amount?

It periodically calculates the total health of the party, and redistributes health so that all players have an equal percentage of health. This means that individual player health pools can go up or down in between ticks as they take damage and healing.
If, however, everyone is at 50% and you heal someone up to 60% (net gain of 10%), then on the next tick every player will have 10/n% more health. In a 5 player group, everyone would increase by 2%:
60+50+50+50+50=260% total health
