Hello Nameless fans!

I'm sorry this update is dragging on so long. I'm in the middle of an international move - to Korea actually - and all the packing & paper work is cutting into my precious game time.

Thanks to everyone who has commented about slight errors; you'll be credited when I finish the update!

For new guide-users, welcome! Below I've listed three notes that will help you complete the game with all collectables until the guide is completely updated:

  • In Lance's route, SAVE1 might be better placed in the "Ice Prince" chapter before you choose "Approach Lance." Thanks to Kokutou for finding this!
  • In Yeonho's route, under "A Cat Named John" in the Common Route, some users have found selecting "He looks so cute. " instead of "What's up?" gives them the album photo. Thanks to Haeeun & Sentaku!
  • Just a note: Some of the items are indeed in the bad endings. Specifically, one of Yuri's album photos, two of Tei's, and one of Red's. In terms of scare-factor, Tei's are (in my opinion) the worst, while Red's actually made me laugh. Whether you want to play the bad endings or not is up to you, but if you're a completionist you'll at least want to try those.
  • I went ahead and changed this in the guide, but just to restate: when you go to start . 's path, you'll be warned about losing memories and album pictures. You will get all of these back when you complete the path, however you wil not regain your save files. Do everything you need to do with the save files before starting the final path. Thanks to Vitamin H for pointing this out!
Introduction

The One Thing You Must Recall

, is a beautiful visual novel that hits on some pretty heavy themes, including abandonment, abuse, and self-hatred. Perhaps the best feature of this game is its replay value as the game not only encourages but practically demands that you replay with different paths and choices in order to fully realize the story.

In Nameless, you play as Eri (or you could give her the name of your choice), a girl who has in recent years found herself living alone after her grandfather's death, with only her five ball-joint dolls to keep her company. One day, these dolls magically - and quite mysteriously - become human which leads to a string of hilarious, heartwarming, and sometimes heartbreaking events. Each playthrough, Eri will get close to one of her dolls and one step closer to remembering the thing she's forgotten.

About this Guide This guide includes a walkthrough of paths and the choices you should make on each to get all of the endings, memories, album pictures, and journal entries. That being said, be warned that reading through the choices may provide some slight spoilers, but no major plot spoilers are included in this guide. Also note that while there may be other ways to get to the game endings, these paths guarantee that you will collect all extra and special items. Quick Game Mechanics

While this is mostly a self explainatory point-and-click game, I'm going to quickly explain a few mechanics.

Paths & Pieces
When you start a new game, you'll notice that there are crystals that light up certain characters faces. These are the character's pieces and represent the possible in-game paths. On your first playthrough, you'll notice that only three of the character's - Lance, Yeonho, and Yuri's - faces light up. This is because Tei and Red's paths are locked; Tei will unlock after your first playthrough with a good ending, and Red will unlock after you complete Tei's good ending.This is to keep you from revealing important plot points too soon in the game. Another thing you might notice is that on the common path - the one with Lance, Yeonho, and Yuri's pieces - all three light up together. That is because your choices will determine whose path you end up on after completeing the common path. The final thing to note is that after completing all five good endings, you will unlock a secret path that you will need to play through to complete the storyline.

  • While you're in the game, right click to pause and pull up the menu.
  • In the pause menu, there's an option called script. This will pull up a dialogue box with the script for the chapter you're currently in. Use your keyboard's up and down arrows to navigate it. If you're using a mouse with a track, you can also pull the script up and navigate it with the wheel.
  • The Quick-save and Quick-load buttons have a pretty limited function, but they are useful for saving before quizzes and minigames. You can acccess these at the bottom of the main dialogue box or in the pause menu.
  • The Skip button at the button of the dialogue box can be used to speed through text you've already seen (such as when replaying the common path). It usually stops when you hit dialogue you haven't seen, but this doesn't work 100% of the time.
  • There is an Auto button on the dialogue box so you don't have to keep clicking through the dialogue. The settings for Auto can be adjusted in the options menu off the pause menu or title screen.

Exams
In all five paths, Eri will have to take the midterm exam. The exam consists of ten true-or-false questions. The questions are about the game itself, so you should be able to answer them fairly easily. For true click on the O and for false click on the X. After you answer, a O or X will appear over the question to show you if you got the question right (O) or wrong (X). To pass the exam, you need to get at least 9 questions right. Note that passing exams often leads to unlocking journal entries. Also, remember that using the quick save button before the exam will allow you to easily load and retake the exam if you need to.

Quick Tips

Here are a couple things to keep in mind as you play through Nameless:

  • It is highly advised that you play through the paths in or close to the given order (that is, the one shown on the memories page under 'extras' and the one outlined in this guide). This is to prevent you from revealing major plot points too soon. If you feel like mixing it up a bit, at least try to complete the three common path characters (Lance, Yeonho, and Yuri) before playing the others.
  • Bad endings typically reveal more about the overarching plot than just the good endings alone. It's recommended that you try to play through all the endings to get the full experience. This guide will tell you were to save to make it easy and quick to go back and get them all.
  • Speaking of multiple endings, this game is very precise about having a certain combination of player-choices, so while there are more-or-less multiple ways to get to a given ending, you might want to get in the habit of saving at the start of every chapter or before every player-choice.
  • The common path is played for Lance, Yeonho, and Yuri. While it may seem repetitive, parts of the dialogue do change as you complete others' good endings. These changes usually hint at the overarching plot, so be on the look-out.
  • For those of you that want to skip the repetitive parts of the common path, the skip button usually stops on dialogue you have not seen before. However, this doesn't work 100% of the time.

Lance's path features 8 album pictures and 2 bad endings. I recommend following the good path first and saving at the labeled spots, then going back and getting the bad endings. Note that it's smart to save at the beginning of each chapter and quick save before exams, just in case.

On a more advisory note, Yuri's path hints and the overarching plot a bit more in both the good ending path and in the bad endings than Lance or Yeonho, so I'd recommend playing the other two first.

Before you get into Tei's path, I strongly advise you play Yuri's path first. Parts of the plot will not make sense if you have not completed Yuri's good ending.

Tei's path has 11 album pictures and 4 bad endings. Note that two of the album pictures are from bad endings and one album picture modifies after one of the bad endings. Also be warned that this path has some particularly violent moments, so brace yourself.

Не раз слышал мнение, что животные куда более тонко чувствуют иные миры, нежели среднестатистический человек. Не раз также слышал, что среди них кошки очень выделяются в этой способности. Так это или нет, но факт в том, что за тысячи лет развития мы даже наполовину не подошли к разгадкам тайн этого мира, и в изучении животных мы осознали не так много, как хотели бы. Для чего я начал говорить именно об этом? Да все очень просто! Уже из описания игры можно заподозрить, что все не так просто, особенно в начале предложения, где говорится о странном мире, на который котенок якобы наткнулся. У меня есть две теории этого мира, и я объясню, почему вижу в этой игре отсылку на куда более мистический сюжет, нежели кажется на первый взгляд.

Начнем с самого начала. "Безымянный кот" - это, в целом, не особо выдающаяся в плане геймплея 2д-прыгалка. Только в отличие от многих других, здесь нам не выпадает возможности проявлять агрессию против врагов, потому что главный герой игры (как вы догадались по названию) - кот, который, как я сказал выше, потерялся в другом мире. Все, что мы можем делать изначально, это лишь прыгать и бегать, разгадывая головоломки, но чуть позже высшие силы дают нашему герою интересную способность, о которой вы узнаете позже.

Управление осуществляется абсолютно стандартным набором кнопок: влево, вправо, прыжок. Исключением из "обыденности" можно назвать разве что суперспособность, дарованную главному герою божеством. Управление весьма удобное, отклик в целом хороший, но немного раздражает эффект скольжения по типу стареньких игр типа "Батлтотс" на Дэнди, когда персонаж может отклониться на небольшое расстояние от намеченной точки приземления. Ключевой фишкой игры является как раз именно суперспособность, но в чем же она заключается? Главный герой может вселяться в крестообразные предметы, которые раскиданы по всем уровням и помогают в телепортации, защите от враждебных существ или механизмов.

Как вы заметили, у игры очень приятное звуковое сопровождение, оно ненавязчиво и очень красиво. Особенно мило звучит заглавная тема:

Фортепиано - это какой-то совершенно уникальный в своей универсальности инструмент, он подходит практически везде, особенно если подойти к делу со всей душой, особенно в игре, связанной с мистикой, но через музыку намекающей на то, что мистика здесь добрая, без чего-то пугающего.

Как вы заметили, за игровую валюту (консервные банки) можно купить скины для своего котенка, на игровой процесс это не влияет, но глаз по-своему радует. На самом деле уровней не особо много, поэтому, если вы не собрали достаточно банок, вам придется заново играть.

И вот мы подобрались к тому, о чем я говорил с самого начала. о чем же я, собственно, хотел сказать?

Теория первая: котенок переживает то, что можно назвать клинической смертью; действие игры происходит в лимбе: котенок в результате аварии или какого-то несчастного случая попадает в мир духов, где видит людей, животных и разных существ, которые в этом мире выполняют какую-то свою задачу или просто живут, и концовка игры даст вам понять, если вы, конечно, примете эту теорию, что свою задачу этот котик выполнил (но вот вышел ли он в мир живых?).

Теория вторая: весь этот мир - это лишь комнаты дома, или вообще комната ребенка. Божество, которое наградило котенка суперсилой, это ребенок, который с ним разговаривает, а все эти создания, попадающиеся на пути, - игрушки. Котенок видит все это как некий невероятный мир и проходит испытания, которые дает ему его же сознание.
