Коллекционное специздание The Top 100 Doom Metal albums of all time к довольно экстремальному журналу Decibel (редакция в Филадельфии, Пенсильвания) вышло в ноябре 2004-го года. С тех пор, конечно, весь тираж распродан. На сайте якобы можно купить цифровую версию за $6, но ссылки почему-то не нашёл. Сам список довольно интересный, есть даже наши, нет, не Ария, но, всё равно не лишён шуток, а значит, пригодится и здесь.

Материал самому показался более чем интересным, что-то вообще не слышал или плотно уже позабыл, поэтому захотелось не как прежде просто списком, а с фото, инфой и стримингами, или ютубом, где есть походу уже всё. Но такое количество материала слишком сильно утяжеляет страницу, поэтому придётся разделить статью на три части, что менее наглядно, но ничего не поделаешь, на дзене пока нет спойлеров, а просто ссылки смотрятся не так красиво как плеера с обложками, ибо тут речь как раз про альбомы.

Estatic Fear, группа из Австрии, исполняет музыку, в которой, помимо канонического doom metal можно услышать элементы таких стилей, как gothic и black metal, к тому же некоторые композиции украшены симфоническими аранжировками. Крайний альбом (который и предлагается к прослушиванию) группы вышел в далеком уже 1999-м году и с тех пор коллектив хранит полное молчание, хотя информации о распаде команды, насколько мне известно, не поступало.

Все альбомы, представленные в этой подборке и упоминаемые на канале, имеются у автора в виде физических носителей.

Впервые про дум-метал я услышал году этак в 1992-м от моего школьного друга Антона, который тоже был увлечен тяжелым роком. Как-то на переменке он сообщил, что появился на Западе новый жанр, где вокалист ревет как в трэше, но музыканты не долбят со скоростью отбойного молотка, а наоборот, играют очень медленно. Меня это заинтриговало «Блин, мне необходимо это услышать», - такая мысль была у меня в голове. Спустя какое-то время мне в руки наконец-то попал альбом шведской группы Tiamat «Clouds» 1992-го года выпуска. Я вставил вожделенную кассету в магнитофон, и…

Вся многовековая скорбь человечества обрушилась на меня через колонки. До этого метал был бодрым и забойным, разухабистым и задорным, яростным и агрессивным. Но величественным и печальным не был. Я был очарован этой музыкой, и тут же поназаписывал себе на кассеты другие дум-альбомы, которые смог найти в ларьках звукозаписи своего нестоличного города.

Первая половина 90-х пролетела быстро, и также быстро закончилось пребывание дум-метала на гребне металлического мейнстрима. Ряд представителей этого жанра уже во второй половине 90-х стали играть другую музыку. Но я предлагаю вспомнить время рассвета дум-метала и 7 альбомов этого жанра, которые лично на меня произвели впечатление. Какие-то альбомы правильнее было бы отнести к стилю дэт-дум, но для меня в предлагаемых ниже альбомах ключевой элемент именно «дум». Впрочем, любые дополнения и альтернативные точки зрения приветствуются, пишите их в комментах! Итак, поехали!

Candlemass – Epicus Doomicus Metallicus (1986)

Пожалуй, справедливей всего мой рейтинг будет начать именно с этой шведской банды (кстати, любопытный факт, герои данного поста буду сплошь подданные Карла XVI Густава и Елизаветы II, лишь за одним исключением, впрочем, я забегаю вперед). Во-первых, хронология обязывает, во-вторых, по одной из версий, именно название этого замечательного альбома дало название не менее замечательному стилю. Ну и наконец, в каждом жанре должен быть свой Motorhead. Ну, или AC/DC, это уж как кому нравится.

В думе это, несомненно, Candlemass. Группа существует по сей день, несмотря на смены в составе, в том числе и вокалистов, продолжает радовать фэнов новыми работами. И каждая из них – это классический дум. Тяжелый гитарный звук, невысокий темп, мелодичность – все это в наличие на всех их дисках. Ну а дебютник, о котором сейчас идет речь, заложил основы жанра.
