Mods for SnowRunner are now live on PS4 and Xbox One! We're getting a high number of support requests to mod.io HQ right now, so we've created this FAQ to hopefully answer some of the most common questions. :)

Q: How do I use mods with SnowRunner on PS4 / Xbox

A: Everything is in-game, so you just launch the game, enter the mod browser, subscribe to a mod, then activate it when the download is complete. :)

I am seeing Error 10001 or Error 10005 and mods will not download

We have been investigating the cause of this error and have established that these errors are not occurring within the mod.io network or infrastructure.

SnowRunner proxies requests through their own servers before passing these along to mod.io. The developers are aware of the issue at their end however there is no one fix and each issue will need to be diagnosed individually as there may be several different causes specific to you.

10001 error means that the request has failed due to unknown reasons.
10005 error means the request timed out.

Is there any reason why your beautiful mod can't be console friendly ? As far as I can see this one is the most detailed and realistic UAZ 469 in all the Mud/SnowRunner saga. It is a pitty we can't drive this on consoles. Please help us :D Thanks.

I think the vehicle has some issues, though it looks damn good.
-The car is very twitchy off-road and it often jumps in the air after being stopped by the terrain. I've had it even make a physics defying flip a few times.
-It really wants to do a forward roll when going down a steep hill.
-When flipped on its side it often slides by itself due to some collision with possibly the wheels/suspension and the ground. Or it might be due to one of the many animated objects with colliders. The car is also pretty difficult to flip back over as it prefers to slide when winched.
-The car often has issues getting moving from being stopped off-road. The wheels just refuse to turn at least for a bit or at all until Low gear is selected.

Thanks man, but in my situation is little hiccup. I followed your instructions but nothing happened. I deleted authentication.json file, then restart game but again, mod.io offline but I can stil see my instaled mods. So can You help me with this? Thanks

Make sure you're in the correct directory and have deleted the authentication.json file, there's no possible way you'll still be logged into the menu if that file has been deleted.

This is for the Epic Games Store version only. Are you seeing a different error? It is more likely to be genuine (i.e. problems with firewall, internet connection, etc.) if Steam.

Hi guys,
I have an error 10005 which prevents to download or update the mods. I tried removing them directly in-game or on this mod.io site but nothing helped.
I also tried what you describe here because at some point the connection was not established.
I also delete the cache in the folder shown here.
Nothing helps, I still have this 10005 request timed out error.
Please someone has already had this problem and would know how to fix it. I've been on it for 2 days . :(

Hi,trying on this topic as well.
I have issues downloading mods with the Steam version. I always get the error 'failed to download, unknown error, code 10001'. It happens with every single mod.
Reinstalled the game, tried different accounts, tried adding from mod.io instead via game menu, deleted mod.io folder etc. Send an e-mail to the support but you guys only asked for IP and after that the communication was done.
Can someone please help me to solve this?

It seems that their side has some kind of conflict with your IP.

As mentioned each issue has to be diagnosed individually, but as 10001 and 10005 are errors returned by SnowRunner first (and requests are proxied) this isn't often or always the case and so you the steps would be to contact Saber3D first and if it is a mod.io issue, to follow the advise you were given, so this is correct but only in your particular case and there is no one general advise here.

Any updates on these "individual errors"

I reported my issues last week, still unresolved, I was told by Saber that it was a mod io ip address issue, I provided this to your support as requested and as yet no update.

Curious as to how this is an IP issue because if I try and download manually from the site it works, if I try and download a small-sized mod, it works via mod io, but any larger file sizes will fail.

As this BS continues, can anyone direct me to definitive manual mod install instructions?

That was my question, it would appear to me that if you could miss out the whole mod io part of this process then there would be no issues, regardless of which party is to blame for the current issue.

I got in touch with Saber3D, it is clear that it affects more people then just a few individuel cases. They are looking into it :)

Error 10005 on PC, Steam, for files over 450+ MB. Saber3D was made aware of the issue last week, but so far no fixes.

FYI: any updates to mods that pass from below 450 MB in size past the threshold issue will uninstall the mod and make you loose all your stuff.

Thanks, I stupidly deleted the mods folder as a first attempt to fix it before realizing there was an issue.
So I can add the EGS version of the game to the list of broken formats, I simply don't understand why it cannot be a standard mod download and manually place it into a mod folder ala Farming sim rather than these Mickey Mouse third party mod hosters.

look, what were saying is this pass the buck crap is getting old, we expect **** to work. it worked before, theres literally no good excuse for it not to be functioning, we pay good money for these games and you people act like this is just trivial as its part of your work day. whatever your hobby is, they dont give you ******** reasons for not being able to provide the expected service. the apoologize anbd try to make it right. this is far from what support has become "submit ticket" never to be heard from. why even bother?

I understand your frustration, but you have to understand I work for mod.io and not the game's developers (Saber3D / Focus Home) - as the issue is not on the mod.io end and it's a game issue, you need to contact the game's developers directly for support, which is what the guide explains for you to do.

Yeah. Sorry. It doesn't matter to me who you're passing the buck to. Or who you work for. I'll never understand why modding is such a mess. Half the mods crash the game the other half of the time the game won't connect to mod.io. we shouldn't have to go to a third party. Every game should natively host the mod platform. It's ridiculous to offer mods and not support it yourself.

I'm not sure what I can tell you - if your issue is specifically relating to 10001 or 10005 then (for the very reason you mention, because the game DOES manage and host the connection to the mod platform) you will need to speak to the game's developers and they will be more than happy to diagnose and resolve the connection issue for you. Nobody is refusing to help you.

If you're referring to an error *other* than error 10001 or 10005 then I'm not refusing to help you, you're free to contact support@mod.io or through our support channels and we can try and help, although as of yet you have not attempted to do so, so to say we're refusing to help you before you've tried is a little unfair.

One thing I would say though is that if a mod is crashing the game, that's down to the creator of the mod and there's no practical way for us to fix somebody else's mod for them. What you can do is report that mod through the reporting tool or by contacting us, and if the mod does genuinely break or crash the game, it can be removed and the creator notified.

I'm sorry you feel it's "passing the buck" however, again, the idea is to signpost you to the correct support location to get the help you need quickly. Therefore you'd actually be contacting the *first party* (the game's developers) who are best placed to help you. If we're the best place to help resolve the issue, then we'll happily do so. There's no benefit to anyone to signpost you to the least efficient route.

Honestly. There's nothing clear about what's crashing it. But it's been a solid 2 months since my game has been playable. Mods or not.

Just sick and tired of every company passing the buck. It's not us it's (insert company x) contact them. Its become a terrible loop of lacking customer service with covid as a ****** excuse as to why. There's no excuse for it. Even if it isn't your fault. It reflects upon your company. That becomes your problem in my opinion. If the games developer and the mod hosting site can't communicate maybe they shouldn't be working together. I'll never understand how these partnerships work when they just blame things not working on the opposite

Hey. So I think this is becoming very circular, so there's not much more I can really add. As far as I can tell you've not attempted to contact our customer service as of yet. We aren't affected by COVID and we have not, and never have used that in any response to any customer service query. I will try and break this down for you though;

When you boot the game SnowRunner, and select the Mod Menu option, the game connects to servers that are hosted by Focus Home Interactive, who are the game's publishers. The mod content on mod.io is proxied through Focus Home Interactive's servers. Effectively this means you are not connected to mod.io servers directly, you are connecting to Focus Home Interactive's. So to use your own example that "Every game should natively host the mod platform" - this is effectively what happens, and your connection is failing to reach Focus Home Interactive's servers.

It's not a case of "blame" and it's merely doing the thing you're actually seemingly upset about, which is trying to get you the help you need from the best place possible as quickly as possible. I think the best thing would be for you to try it and see how you get on, as this circular argument, that seemingly is based on an assumption, isn't really benefiting anybody and doesn't get you any closer to a resolution.

Saber3d simply do not respond to their support calls beyond "we will get back to you" in fairness to mod io it would appear that saber are on a one-way mission to stop those of us with issues ever buying their products again, shocking that this is still not resolved after it was reported like two months ago.

The promised fix was NOT implemented in the latest game update and Saber3D is now bouncing responsability back to this site. Unprofessional and inexcusable.

Ratings are calculated using Evan Miller's method (based on a Wilson score confidence interval) that is self-correcting. This means that the % of positive ratings & number of ratings decide a mods position on the top charts. The benefit of this approach is a mod with 2 positive ratings will not outrank one with 10 positive ratings but 2 negative. Nor will a mod with tons of rankings outrank everything unless most of the ratings are positive.

Rating levels

Ratings range from overwhelmingly positive to overwhelmingly negative. The color changes depending where on the scale the mod fits.

    • Скопировать файлы из EGS в Steam (т.е. из %UserProfile%\Documents\My Games\Snowrunner\base\storage\1638 перенести файлы в [steam directory]\userdata\[profile id]\1465360\remote)
    • Изменить расширения скопированных файлов (*.dat переименовать в *.cfg) вручную или используя PowerShell скрипт выше
    • (Необязательный пункт, но может помочь тем, у кого сохранения берутся из кэша) Удалить файл remotecache.vdh из директории [steam directory]\userdata\[profile id]\1465360. Перезапустить Steam для очистки кэша
    • Запустить игру и проверить сохранения
    • Включить Steam Cloud обратно
    • Откройте меню паузы (нажмите ESC). Нажмите "C" или кликните "Управление группой".
    • Нажмите "T" или кликните "Разрешить игрокам перемещать мой автомобиль лебёдкой".

    Если Вы не можете присоединиться к друзьям или они не могут присоединиться к Вам, значит (как минимум) у одного из вас закрыты нужные порты или строгий NAT.

    Q: I am subscribing to mods on the mod.io website, but they do not appear in game

    A: Only the mods available from the mod browser are available for consoles. Most of the mods on the website are currently PC only (see next Q&A). Subscribing to mods that are not available on the console mod menu will not be available on these platforms.

    Please use the mod browser to discover and install mods on consoles, or click here to browse console-approved mods.

    Q: I can only see a limited number of mods on XBOX / PS4? Why is this?

    A: Mods on consoles must be pre-approved before appearing in the game - and as such, there is a limited subset of mods on consoles. Due to the rules imposed by console platforms, some mods are not suitable for consoles and are not available. More mods are slowly being added to consoles, as they must be manually pre-approved by the developer/console platforms. More will slowly appear over the days and weeks.

    Q: Certain mods were available before, but have now gone - why is this?

    A: All mods when they are updated require re-approval and will be unavailable while this process happens. Also, some mods have found to have issues and may be removed temporarily as they are reviewed by the Focus Home team.

    Q: Why are mods I have subscribed to not available or downloading slowly?

    A: If you are experiencing slow downloads, or mods are not appearing as quickly as you expect, this is due to the large file sizes of some of the mods available. Mods will download in the background only while the game is running, at a fixed transfer speed. Please be patient and allow plenty of time for these mods to appear while the game is running. If you don't wish to wait, we recommend choosing some of the smaller mods that are available instead.

    Q: I have an issue with SnowRunner crashing/compatibility with mods within SnowRunner

    Q: I am getting an error message stating 'Not Enough Space' - but I have not subscribed to any mods yet.

    Consoles only have limited space (1GB) allocated for mods across all games - regardless of how much free storage you have. You may need to check what you have installed on your console and remove some things to find the space. Also, some of the Focus Home mods are close to 1GB big, so you may only be able to have 1 mod installed at a time due to the space limitation.

    Q: I am seeing a 401 error code in SnowRunner on XBOX / PS4

    Q: The mods option is grey and I cannot select it

    This issue can be caused by the option 'Allow User-generated Content' being disabled in the console's settings.

    This issue can be caused by the use of child accounts that fall into the age bracket of 15 years old or younger on Xbox, or 13 or under on PlayStation. Microsoft does not provide us with exact dates of birth for privacy reasons - they only provide us with an age range (i.e. 10-14) - as such legally we must reject the login request as we don't know if its the child is above or below the age of 13 in order to comply with COPPA laws.

    if an adult account is failing the check they are signed into more than one Xbox Live account, which is why a lot of games suggest logging out of all other accounts prior to starting a particular game to prevent issues like this. If 2 users are logged in for example and one is marked as Child and one Adult, it's best for us to reject the login request as we don't know if its the Child or the Adult playing.

    Q: I am seeing a 401 error code in SnowRunner on PC

    A: Mods are currently not available on the Test / Preview server of SnowRunner. If you are using the mainstream version, the typical fix for this issue is to force Snowrunner to reauthenticate. You can do that by deleting the following file and restarting the game: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\My Games\SnowRunner\base\Mods\.modio\au - you must have a legal copy of the game for mods to work.

    Q: The authentication code is not working

    A: The security code is only valid for 15 minutes, and you can only request one code every 15 minutes. Please wait for a while, then restart the game and try again after 15 minutes. If you still have issues, please contact us by clicking here.

    Q: I did not receive an authentication code

    A: Please check your spam/junk folder, and wait a few minutes for the code to arrive. If the code is not in your spam/junk folder that likely means you misspelled your email. Please wait for 15 minutes, then trying again, ensuring you are entering your e-mail address correctly - common mistakes we are seeing in our logs are;

    - Users putting spaces or other invalid characters in their e-mail address - e-mail addresses cannot have spaces.

    - Users using commas instead of dots in their e-mail address

    - Users mis-spelling their e-mail address by mistake and not realizing

    Note the security code is only valid for 15 minutes, and you can only request one code every 15 minutes. Please wait for a while, then restart the game and try again after 15 minutes. If you still have issues, please contact us by clicking here.

    Q: I am seeing a 422 error code when authenticating

    A: The error code 422 usually means something was malformed when it was entered into one of the boxes.

    - Users putting spaces or other invalid characters in their e-mail address - e-mail addresses cannot have spaces.

    - Users using commas instead of dots in their e-mail address

    - Users mis-spelling their e-mail address by mistake and not realizing

    - This may mean that you are entering your email when you should be entering a 5 digit authentication code, or the authentication code you are entering is not valid. Make sure the authentication code you are entering is exactly 5 digits long (i.e. ZAOYC). If that doesn't work we recommend you exit the game and start again, entering your email then authentication code

    Q: I am seeing Error Code 0 when selecting the mod menu

    I am seeing a "Failed to connect to mod.io" message on PC (Epic Games Store)

    If you are using the Epic Games PC version of the game then to fix this error, you must force Snowrunner to reauthenticate;

    1. Close SnowRunner
    2. Browse to C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\My Games\SnowRunner\base\Mods\.modio\
    3. Delete the authentication.json file
    4. Restart SnowRunner
    5. Log back into the mod menu
