19 сен. 2017 в 8:47 Title is pretty self-explanatory - I'm nearly done with the Foraging bundles in the community center, and the only item I need is a Snow Yam.
I've spent several in-game days trying to get one by going to the mines (levels 40-80) and digging up tillable soil, but with no luck. Any suggestions? 19 сен. 2017 в 9:04 I usually go down to the beach and use the hoe there, I typically get one pretty quickly. 19 сен. 2017 в 10:01

Snow Yams are very common in snow (just use the Hoe on it like it's tillable soil), though they can't be found on your farm or in the Mines.

There's plenty of snow everywhere; basically, in winter, any soil that's tillable becomes snow. For example, you can find tons around Robin's house.

I'll have to disagree; looking for worms is a terrible idea. Finding worms will usually take time and, when you do find a worm tile, you might simply get a Winter Root instead.

Snow Yams are very common in ordinary snow. Just go to the nearest patch of snow and start hoeing, you'll find multiple.

Snow Yam

The Snow Yam is a foraging item found only in Winter. Wild snow yams do not grow above ground, but instead they are buried in the snow/dirt and must be dug up with a Hoe (no other tools, even Bombs, will work).

Snow Yams can also be grown from Winter Seeds, in which case they are a standard wild-seed crop: they grow above ground, can be harvested without using a tool, gives 7 Foraging XP, and is affected by Botanist profession.

Winter Seeds

Winter Seeds are a type of Crafted seed. The crafting recipe is labeled "Wild Seeds (Wi)", but when crafted, the result is "Winter Seeds." Mature plants yield, at random, a Crocus, Crystal Fruit, Snow Yam, or Winter Root. Winter Seeds are the only seed that can grow outdoors during Winter.

Winter Seeds are one of the season-specific crafted wild seeds, along with Spring Seeds, Summer Seeds, and Fall Seeds that produce crops normally found as forage. Note that while Farming Skill normally increases the chance to grow a quality crop, for these (and other wild seeds) it is the Foraging Skill which increases the chance to recieve a quality crop. Crows do not attack crops grown from Summer Seeds, so the use of Scarecrows is unnecessary.

Because the forage is spawned as items rather than being "harvested", a mature plant grown from a Summer Seeds is different to other crops. Firstly, it will be affected by the Botanist profession perk. Secondly, it will not be considered "in the ground" on the last day of its growth and may leave untilled soil in its place, and any fertilizer used will be lost in this case.
