It still wouldn't let me login DOOFUS. I copy pasted the password i made up and login ID and it didnt ♥♥♥♥♥ work.
Any game that makes me spend half an hour trying to make an account before getting in game isn't worth my time. unnecessary ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

See the red arrow?
See where it says (OPTIONAL)
That means if you do not have a one time password you do not put anything in there.
You leave it blank.
And if you still are confused then click on the bottom where it says "What is a One-Time Password?"

All I wanted to do was try the game but so far I've spent 20 minutes making 2 square enix accounts (cause making one isnt ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ enough), register personal information, googling what "play online service" means and other crap that is never explained to you, etc.

I honestly don't get how people have an issue with this.
The most complicated thing is the fact that there's a steam version and a non steam version and you have to make a square enix account instead of just using your steam.
Beyond that it's literally just like signing up for any other online game in existence.
You buy the game, it gives you the code, you register on mogstation, you input the code, your game is activated, you log in, you play.
That's it. It's because the segregation of the two as different products is nonsense only a few companies pull. There is literally no legitimate reason. Not all games pull this confusing garbage on the PC, and the Steam "version" is literally bit for bit identical and simply checks whether your registered product matches their store or Steam's based on whether you launched through Steam or separately without Steam. It's bizarre, confusing, and people are right to be annoyed by it.
I read up and I paid attention so I didn't run into issues, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't just do away with the difference. It's an MMORPG with a subscription. It's impossible to somehow exploit it for two accounts if they are worried about that. Moreover, publishers/developers are free to issue as many codes as they want for no extra cost from Valve, so they could easily offer synchronizing the two.
I have a feeling this is all about the ability to pay for time with Steam, but it's still a really bizarre choice that needlessly introduces a bunch of complicated mechanics to simply purchasing and registering the game.
You shouldn't need a glossary giving an overview of the difference between a Square Enix account, Mog Station, and service account just to understand the registration process. Bonus points for the registration bug years ago that set the month and date of your birthday identical with no clear way to fix it. Good luck recovering your password if you don't know about that bug and forget it.

heres where im confused:
so i downloaded the token app so that i can get the one time passwords, but it says that i need a registration code for it to work. it says that to get the registration code, i have to log into account managment. to log into account management, i need a one time password. help!?
The one time password is optional, if you don't have registered a program to use it, you don't need it to log in.
(Although is recommended).

You can download it to your Android phone for free or purchase a physical one for $12.00. Would it really be so hard to take 5 seconds to google it? It pretty obvious its an autheticator system and is optional. even then there are people who would try to log in with it blank anyway. Im sorry they expected people to have atleast one brain cell to log in! (sadly even crappy players with zero brain cells have managed to log in and play)
Those are hardly hoops, and you clearly dont know what you are talking about, you dont register characters through the Mogstaion website, its a service account system, where you set up and manage your "Game Service Account" a fairly standard system that's been in use for some time now and used for tons of things. Its the same as setting up an account for any other online service, then simply putting a key in, like steam, or xbox live, or psn and countless others. You create your character in game like any other..
There is no quest limit per hour, wtf are you talking about? are you even playing the same game as us? The game was terrible in YOUR opinion, don't make generic statements about something thats clearly incorrect to anyone other than yourself. But it sounds like you barely even touched the game, MMO's aren't at their best within the first half of the lv cap.
