Dead Rising 2 – экшен хоррор, в котором игрок побывает в роли Чака Грина в Городе Удачи. В Fortune City произошла вспышка неизвестного вируса, из-за чего улицы переполнили ужасающие зомби. У вас есть 72 часа, чтобы спасти свою дочь. По истечении 3 дней в город войдут войска, которые уничтожат всех и вся, не оставив ничего живого от местности. В зависимости от действий, которые вы совершите по мере прохождения, вам будет доступно 7 разнообразных концовок.

Игра предоставляет мультиплеер и одиночное прохождение, в котором игроки будут искать дочь и выполнять задания. Геймер столкнется с различными второстепенными персонажами, которым он будет помогать, узнавая больше информации о вирусе. В Dead Rising 2 игроки могут совмещать предметы быта, чтобы сражаться с монстрами. Подберите любой лежащий на полу предмет и бейте противников. Игра не исключает возможность отсекания частей тела от зомби, если игрок стреляет из поражающего огнестрельного оружия или рубит врагов острыми ножами.

Модернизируйте предметы, поднимая материалы, чтобы создать более мощное оружие. Обыскивайте все здания и уголки, обнаруживая спрятанные пушки или крутые материалы. Если у героя нет никакого оружия, то он может выйти из тяжелой ситуации при помощи кулаков и приемов в ближнем бою. Существует несколько типов зомби, отличающихся скоростью бега, силой ударов и количеством здоровья. Успейте спасти дочь за 72 часа, чтобы не превратится в уголь от взрывов, которые нанесет правительство.
