FWIW streamers have been invited to share ideas with devs in Hunt. It was a while back, but I remember Psychoghost (only streamer I watch) mentioning that he'd been invited to meet the devs, along with some other streamers.

One fact you forgot to mention: Hunt has ELO based matchmaking, and the option to opt out of 3 player games. EFT doesn't. EFT is BRUTAL for new players trying to learn.

Could go on, but like you, not getting paid for this :)

EFT is more brutal on newer players, but is overall the better product since it isn't confused about it's identity. 25 фев. 2020 в 11:18

Tarkov: unreleased 0.1.something game
Hunt: fully-fledged release (rarely had problems with stability)

Never played T just because of it being unfinished, an early access for ages, but here's my 5 cents anyway. Btw, what's the point of topic? Are you implying Tarkov > Hunt or something? I mean, these games have as much in common as they have with PUBG.

EFT is more brutal on newer players, but is overall the better product since it isn't confused about it's identity. I enjoy both games, and agree that the EFT devs have stuck with their belief of how they want the game to be, and not been swayed from that by players.

I still enjoy Hunt, I just don't like how the devs have been swayed by the player base, making changes that take away from the game's uniqueness. Some I agreed with (everyone starting with equal hp was big) others (red clues, boss lair warnings among others) I don't like at all.

Hunt showdown or Escape from Tarkov?

Looking into both it seems like hunt showdown is more casual and less nuanced which to me is something I’m turned off by.

It seems like there is more do do in raids in tarkov and more maps which is good.

What am I missing ? I love the cowboy vibe of hunt showdown but do any of you have reasons why Hunt is more fun or better than Escape from Tarkov?

Thanks in advance

What you do in Tarkov is relatively open-ended. You join a raid, kill Scavs or PMCs, you gather gear or do a quest. Hunt gives you a clear objective - gather clues, kill boss, extract.

One of the main differences is the sandbox nature of Hunt. Gameplay in Tarkov is: walk, shoot, loot - repeat, while in Hunt you can actually use your surroundings. There are a bunch of interactables like exploding barrels, oil puddles, bear traps that can be placed by the player, lights to shoot out, etc. etc.

Edit: And of course the AI. Tarkov AI are just other dudes with guns. Hunt AI ranges from hellhounds to screeching zombies with insect hives sticking out their chests.

Should I buy Hunt Showdown or Escape from Tarkov

I have both games, and I personally have always found hunt far more enjoyable. In tarkov, when you start out it’s pretty much impossible to kill the high tier players because of all their body armour and gear, but in hunt everybody has the exact same amount of health, and everybody dies to one headshot. I don’t like that in Tarkov players who play the game all day long have a massive advantage, I like that hunt is an even playing field between all players besides the weapons, and it is not real hard to kill one guy and take his higher tier weapons, especially since the Romero exists.

If you like modern gun simulations, nothing beats EFT right now.

If you like cowboy games, Red Dead Redemption 2 just came out on PC.

And if you like scary cowboy games with zombies and six shooters and a super unique world, then Hunt: Showdown is it.

Well your in a hunt Reddit section so tarkov for sure :)

I figured as much. Much more interested in Hunt Showdown. Could I get a couple reasons why you love the game?

Tarkov is all grind and "realism" and basically very little mechanical skill involved. Most of the skill in that game is learning the obtuse mechanics through 3rd party/friends, learning the maps, and farming quests to get good gear. As someone else said in this thread, in this game a headshot will kill you, in tarkov you can survive many if you pay the right price.

Sure, if you want.

Tarkov has an armor system. I wanna have people drop, when I shoot them in the head. In hunt this can only appear if you shoot over very long distances with the smallest caliber.

Overall I love the setting in Hunt. It is so rewarding for tactical play and due to the fact you lose everything on death, people are willing to play very tactical instead of going Rambo shooter mode.

Escape From Tarkov way better than Hunt?

Few weeks later I find Tarkov and turns out the games are very similar. Both very immersive, good graphics, and full loot. But, Tarkov is just SO much further ahead and Tarkov claims to be way earlier in its development cycle compared to Hunt

Anyways, anyone else played both? What do you think

Escape From Anti-Aliasing

Escape From Rubberbanding

Escape From Aimbot Scavs

Escape From Leg Meta

Escape From LOD

Ohhh the Anti-Aliasing thing. Drove me crazy.

It just feels really tight most of the time.

Played both, ended up hating Tarkov because of very poor optimization after a LOT of patches. I understand why people may like it, but the lack of optimization, endless server wipes, and meaningless wandering killed it for me.

Not to mention, for their price points, Hunt is much better imho.

Out of those two games, Hunt is the one I would be recommending.

As for comparing the two games I actually thought they were really similar in basic game premise to hunt in the way the game flows, although with a much less clearly defined goal. You load into an instance based shooter against an unknown amount of enemy players, and in hunt either kill players or hunt the bounty and extract, or Tarkov kill players or loot/explore then extract. The thing which drew me in more was the depth to the out of and in game systems, having a persistent character and stash as well as much more options to tailoring your gear and loadout compared to hunt. Some aspects are definitely lacking and tedious at times but I enjoy the game alot more long term I think than I have hunt due to these systems adding more longevity to the experience.
