The third collection from the people at Dread X and this time they set out to spoop you with 13 more tales of cutesy horror.

Bete Grise is a game where you play as an employee in the eerie Bete Grise hotel as you go around and doing chores while something sinister lurks in the walls in the hotel. The game itself is rather simplistic, it plays out from a top down perspective and for the most part you go around and to the same three jobs over and over until the game sort of just ends. It's overall decent, however the controls are incredibly slippery and take sometime getting used as the game plays on a top down perspective, sometimes you will have trouble seeing where you're going and what certain items are.

Bubbo: Adventure on Geralds Island:

Bubbo is a N64 collect-a-thon platformer inspired horror game where you run around an island trying to repair your boat. I was pleasantly surprised by how fun Bubbo was, however I do have to admit that the game isn't perfect. The controls are incredibly slippery and since there's quite a few very precise jumps you need to do to get to certain items that are pretty difficult due to how Bubbo controls. Also I feel like due to how much effort was put into the overall game, the endings suck a lot because the game just sort of ends abruptly without explaining anything, which was really disappointing.

Torple Dook is back for a third round in a collection in this 90's inspired point and click adventure game. As Skip you have to look for supplies for your party all while exploring your surreal house. This game is just flat out hilarious and awesome. It nails the 90's educational adventure game (akin to Blues Clues) feel almost spot on, even having the crackling audio which was sort of the staple of those games. It's more dark comedy than horror, but it's so funny that you sort of forgive it for it. This was the definite highlight of the collection for me.

Disparity of the Dead:

Now for the game that caused me a lot of issues. Disparity of the Dead is a game where you play as a detective trying to figure out why bodies are not coming to the afterlife after they die. This game sort of throws you into it and does not help you whatsoever. You quickly realize what you need to do and find your footing and exploring the world is honestly awesome. It has that PS1 look and honestly the darkness gives off a really creepy factor and then even more so once you reach the ending moments of the game. However this game has a game breaking bug which could lock you out of the ending and this has been an issue since launch and not been fixed as of the time the review, so be warned when playing the game.

EDEN: Garden of the Faultless:

EDEN was another big surprise for me. You control a man trying to create a God strong enough to destroy the world and you do this by battling other gods. You raise them in the garden feeding them fruit and bonding with them to build up their strength. It's very similar to the mini game from Sonic Adventure 2, just horror themed. Honestly it was quite jarring at first, but once you get the hang of it, it was surprisingly fun and I enjoyed raising my cute little apocalypse bringer. I would really love to see this concept fleshed out further, would definitely consider playing a full game based on this concept.

Matter OVER Mind:

Matter OVER Mind is a game where you control a brain eating slug trying to escape the facility it's being held in. This one was slightly mediocre and that's purely on the really poor controls. You have to jump onto enemy heads to control them and pass doors that are locked to you in your slug form, however the jumping is so janky that you can get stuck and that makes you prone to attacks from enemies that have guns and they mow you down without any remorse. Also there's collectibles that you lose upon death and since the lab is pretty big, backtracking to recollect them is a pain in the ass.

Nice Screams at Funfair:

I've played all three Dread X collections (not played The Hunt yet) and even in the weakest games I found something to enjoy, however Nice Screams at Funfair is the only one that is just plain bad and by the worst game out of these collections, without any redeeming qualities. You play as a ice cream man who has to complete orders of customers while taking money and either taking them as a tip (which is a big no no) or putting them in the register. The game is insanely janky, putting the ice cream into the cones barely works half of the time and sometimes you can glitch the cone which won't allow you put more ice cream on top of it, I got really sick of it and I was glad when it wrapped up.

Reactor is a game where you're stuck in a space station with your AI companion and doing research on a alien life form when things take a horrific turn. This one started off weak, but once it picked up I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. Visually it's pleasing to look at and the AI is funny and then the horror is very big in scale and I loved the ending of it. This was definitely the big surprise of the collection for me.

SATO WONDERLAND:

Sato Wonderland is a game where you interrogate an AI from a local theme park as the sinister nature of why the AI is there is revealed. This one was another surprising one, however it's very simple. There's not many options for you to choose to question the AI, so you end up knowing which combo of questions to ask to advance the plot, but it was still very interesting, however I feel like it wraps up before it can do anything really memorable.

Soul Waste is a game where you set out to kill a God. This is another really weak one and that's purely on the controls which are super slippery. You constantly feel like you're on ice and every surface feels like it's covered in gallons of oil and you're slipping into the enemies. I was planning on collecting every collectible, however there was one platforming section that so bad with the controls that I simply gave up. The combat itself works fine, however I feel like if the controls were tighter this one would have been one of the better games in the collection.

SPOOKWARE @ The Video Store is another very pleasant surprise. Ever wanted to play a horror themed Wario Ware ? Well I have and I got my wish with Spookware. Three skelebros are watching horror movies which act like horror mini games and you have to complete them without losing too many of them. This one was super fun and I had a really pleasant experience with the game. My only issue stems from how a few of the games explain the rules poorly, like the exorcism game, however I still had tons of fun. Also this one had a fully expanded game recently made and now it moved up on my list of games to get.

Submission was my favorite game of the collection and because of how twisty this one is, I'll keep it to bare minimum. I won't even talk about the plot here, cause it's so insane just trust me on that. The game is such a experience that honestly constantly had me on my toes and I had a blast with this one. It's slightly tedious at times, but the plot is so good that it made putting up with the plot worth it. This was my favorite of the collection.

Just like the previous Dread X collection, 3 has a hub game where you solve puzzles so you can solve to play the main games. I love Kira's work, but this hub honestly felt a bit too slow. Leo and Prometheus the two main characters constantly interrupt with their dialogue which isn't really that well written and they go on forever and a lot of the time when they talk it locks you in place. Also the hub was super buggy, I was constantly forced to restart when I got stuck in the graves at the graveyard.

A guide for the cute 3d platformer featuring Bubbo! in the Dread X Collection 3. This goes over where some hidden collectibles are in order to get an alternate ending.

Guide to Bubbo's Gem Adventure

Introduction

Here on Gerald's Island nothing is wrong at all! Everyone is happy to see Bubbo, a brave delivery boy out to make his earnings while looking adorable.

Unfortunately Bubbo arrived at the wrong time and the locals are plotting to hurt our purple cupcake, however there is one thing that can save you! Collection 5 Gems of power and protection from all evils! Awesome!

From here on out I'll have the locations marked shown in photos. Enjoy!

Cyan/Blue Gem

This Gem is the first you can collect rather fast, when you make your way into the town for the first time collecting the coins, you'll come across an area you have to climb to make it to the top of a building.

When you get to this point here, jump into the odd colored window.

Tada! That was pretty easy to spot to find! One down and four to go.

Red Gem

Now after making your way through the town and collecting your money, you'll find that some accidents have happened while you were away! Progress through the game now until you reach the Monkey's home, this large forest contains 3 Gems, the first of which you can spot in the distance if you look near the rightmost treetops.

So you will want to reach this point in the trees.

Jump over here and carefully platform up the branches, careful now!

After making it up all the way you can reach the Gem and a helpful sign that will tell you about the Gems! Two down, three to go!

Green Gem

Also in the forest is another path of branches of platforming the leads to a Gem, get in this spot and follow along.

You're jumping across to that branch there on the right.

Now that you're here you'll see a pretty straight path to climb, like the last Gem, make your way up carefully and reach the next spot

At this point you can hop across the gap above and make your way to collect our third Gem! Bubbo is feeling a little more safe now.

Purple Gem

Now from the green Gem, hop right off to the town and peer down the sewer drain.

You see where the moss and red brick meet? You're aiming for that spot.

You'll reach this spot right here!

And meet a cute friend inside.

Magenta Gem

This is the last Gem I found, mostly because imo it is the most hidden, there's not a whole lot of indication it is there.

Head to the edge of the forest until you spot a friendly Bear on some edges.

I love this cute Bear, he's adorable!

So the secret is right in the wall behind him, just sort of jump into it till you find the spot.

And there we go! Another friendly thing seems to be here! Welp with all the Gems you now have full protection from the dark evils that may try to snatch you away! To get the alternate ending just Fall down the flesh pit at the end with all your gems in hand and reach the heart!

This is a guide to help folks skip past difficult parts in the house. It is not a comprehensive FAQ/walkthrough, so don’t expect to find all the spooky secrets here. Happy playing!

Most Useful Tips for House

The House

The house acts as a central launcher for all of the games in the Collection, except it is a whole game in of itself! Solve the puzzles to earn keys and unlock more games. Each game is displayed as a VHS tape. Once you have unlocked a tape, simply approach the TV and select the game you want to play.

The First Key

The first key is simply on top of the TV. Select the locked boxes to read about each game and unlock whichever you choose. After one game has been played, the door to the right of the maiden statue will open, allowing you access to much of the mansion.

The Warrior Statue Key

Observe the painting in the room of the four limbed statue. No, not the statue of a maiden covering her face. The other statue, goofball. Looking at the painting, you will see the same statue with weapons in its hands. Simply select each hand on the statue and choose the matching weapon. Be wary of crossed arms. Once each weapon is in the proper hand, the painting will split in half and reveal a key.

The Clock Key

A visual puzzle requiring you to input a certain time on the clock in order to open the chamber where the key is held. The table will help you find the answer here. The left switch operates the minutes hand and the right operates the hour hand. Answer: 4:35. Little hand 4, long hand 7.

The Piano Room Key

A sound puzzle, with notes connected to various body parts that you can pull. A certain melody (Shave and a Haircut) has to be played which can be found on a gramophone in the attic. Once you input the notes in the right order, the lid of the piano will open revealing a key. The order is X. For fun, you can input it again to replay the song. Answer: 3-4-4-1-4-2-3 (left to right)

The Severed Body Key

Body parts are strewn around the premises and have to be collected to be placed on the dismembered body upstairs. There are 5 parts in total. Three parts are outside the mansion and two inside. Once all parts are collected and placed it will lower the pressure plate and open the cage, allowing access to the key inside. Locations: Left leg - sitting on outside porch between front door and stairs. Head - outside on the lawn chair between the two sheds. Right leg - leaning against a wooden chair under a tree in a corner of the yard. Right arm- in the greenhouse sticking up from the pot. Left arm- sitting on a table behind the warrior statue.

The Greenhouse Key

A balancing puzzle. Can be solved relatively easily by figuring out the value of each item on the panel. The solution to the puzzle can be found in a book in the library. Triggering the correct switches will balance the scales, opening the box where the key is kept. Answer: Man, Wolf, Rabbit, Water.

The Pipe Room Key

Found in the large shed outside. Rotate each pipe until they all connect. This will divert the blood from the hanging body into the basin. Once the basin is full, the chest below will open, granting access to the key below.

The Torn Painting Key

This large, empty frame can be found on the second floor opposite the stairs and requires 4 scraps to piece together to form a complete image. When all are found, select inside the frame to see some cool artwork and unlock the key box beside it. Three of the four scraps are found indoors. Locations: On the table in the little shed outside, armchair in piano room, in the drawer in the sun gallery and on the shelf near the door in the library.

The Sun Key

A puzzle found upstairs involving busts on pedestals that face away from a central sun. Each bust will have to face the sun in order to unlock the key within. Two of the four busts are in adjacent rooms, one is in the severed body room and the other is to the left of the stairway painting puzzle. They can be rotated with the level below it.

The Library Key

One of the harder puzzles. The puzzle is contained within a box in the library which can be opened by using the button. There are six different sections within with rotating sides each containing different art. The answer to this lies in the story of ‘The Bitter Blade’, which has three volumes. Two of the volumes being contained in the library and one being outside in the tiny shed. You will have to run through the story progressively in order to unlock the key here. Answer: Vagrant, angel, knight, demon, demonic knight, dead priest.

The Mannequin Key

A puzzle located in the attic in the same room as the gramophone. There is a signpost to the right of the mannequins with a clue written on it. Remove the legs of the mannequins and leave the room. When you hear a “thump” return to find them on the ground with the foremost holding a key in its outstretched hand.

The Projector Key

There is a room in the attic with two slide projectors on a table projecting top and bottom panels onto a screen. The note beside them can be used to help determine the correct configuration. The safe is to the right of the projector. Queue each image in the proper order to remove the bars and get the key. Answer: Child, Adult, and Skull.
