A Normal Lost Phone is already a strong contender for best mobile game of 2017 thanks to its original concept, intriguing and rather emotional story and well-integrated puzzles. The idea is simple but brilliant: you’ve found a lost phone, which you need to fully explore in order to work out what happened to its owner.
You do so by cracking passwords, discovering secrets and communicating with the owner’s friends. And while A Normal Lost Phone concentrates more on story and exploration than it does on tough brain-teasers, some of the puzzles may still stumble gamers.
Here’s our complete A Normal Lost Phone walkthrough, explaining how to solve each of the game’s puzzles. Each puzzle solution begins with gentle hints to poke you in the right direction, followed by a full solution if you’re still stumped.
A Normal Lost Phone walkthrough: What to do first
Read all of the available texts. These obviously make more sense if read in chronological order.
Sam is living with his mother and father in a city called Melren.
On New Year’s Eve he broke up with his girlfriend, Melissa. Melissa was previously suspicious of Sam’s relationship with his best friend, Alice.
On December 21 it was Sam’s father’s birthday.
Samuel’s cousin ran away to join a cult but is now contacting the extended family to invite them to a wedding. Sounds suspiciously normal behaviour for a cultist, right?
Sam was a member of a board games group until December 13, when another member called Lola forced him out, alluding to some kind of horrific secret.
Sam is also member of a book club.

Looks like the phone is out of credit and not connected to the town’s WiFi network. Tap the WiFi icon at the top left corner of the desktop and then tap Melren. Looks like figuring out the password is A Normal Lost Phone’s first puzzle.

Hint 1: At least one text message gives you a clue into the Melren WiFi password.

The password is Melren’s zip code. You can easily find this in the weather app.

Hint 1: Looks like it’s numbers only again. Try something you think might work.
Hint 2: Uh oh, looks like we only have two more attempts to get this right! But maybe there’s another solution to this puzzle.
Hint 3: Try two more times and the account is locked. But we can unlock it again by answering a security question.
Hint 4: Perhaps a photo in your emails might help with the security question?
What is the Be You VIP forum password? Solution
If you incorrectly enter a password three times, the forum locks your account and prompts you to enter your father’s year of birth to reset the password. Luckily you can work this out with Melissa’s photo from Sam’s dad’s birthday party (an attachment in one of her emails).
His father turned 54 on December 21 2015, which means his year of birth was 1961.

Why not send a photo to Phil_free, to keep the conversation alive?
Which photo should I send to Phil_free? Hints
Hint one: Well, we know what Sam looks like when he’s dressed as a boy, from one of the previously downloaded photos, right?
Hint two: Phil_free wants to see Samuel as Samira, so we’ll need to find a pic of him dressed up.
Hint three: Check out the photos in the forum VIP section. Any of the people in there look familiar?

Aha, now we know that the Transpride festival took place in Covonia. So what can we do with this information?
Well, we know from the VIP forum that Samuel has a fake calculator app, which contains his hidden diary. Accessing that would be the last piece of the puzzle.
What is the fake calculator app’s password? Hints
Hint 1: It’s once again numerical, and something to do with the Be You forum.
Hint 2: Perhaps something related to the Transpride festival?
Hint 3: The solution is similar to the WiFi password we already cracked.
What is the fake calculator app’s password? Solution
We know that the festival took place in Covonia, so head back to the Weather app and find the city’s zip code. 85922. Enter that into the calculator and press ‘=’.
We now know the full story of what happened with Samuel. All that’s left to do is head to the settings and delete all content on the phone. Game over!

Open the apps folder and find the Notes app. Find the PublicFreeWifi password, 6389856.
Open the Wifi settings and choose PublicFreeWifi. Enter 6389856 as the password to connect.
You can now connect to the PowerJob Messenger app.
Unlock PowerJob Messenger:
SecurityChest password:
If you try to enter a password for the SecurityChest app, it gives you a hint.
This is how you get all that information.
So the SecurityChest password is 2121.
CloudSave Work Account Password:
We already have 2121, since she needs to enter that every time SecurityChest locks up again.
For the second half, open the SMS app and find her discussion with Ben. He gives Laura the digicode to get into his home, which is 4004.

The phone belongs to a boy called Samuel, who turned 18 today – January 31. This is the same day he apparently lost his phone.
Sam is living with his mother and father in a city called Melren.
On New Year’s Eve he broke up with his girlfriend, Melissa. Melissa was previously suspicious of Sam’s relationship with his best friend, Alice.
On December 21 it was Sam’s father’s birthday.
Samuel’s cousin ran away to join a cult but is now contacting the extended family to invite them to a wedding. Sounds suspiciously normal behaviour for a cultist, right?

A Normal Lost Phone is an inventive mobile classic which puts you into another person’s shoes as you slowly uncover their plight and uncover their deepest secrets all through their phone.
It's launching on Nintendo Switch this week too, so we’ve revisited the game and decided to give you everything you’ll need in order to complete it - aren’t we nice?
In this walkthrough you’ll discover important clues and passwords to help you progress, but be warned, there will be spoilers ahead.
For everything you need to complete A Normal Lost Phone, just read on!
Getting online
As you jump in to A Normal Lost Phone you’ll start on the messages screen, with Dad sending you some new messages.
There’s loads of background info and characters in the messages that will become relevant to the story later, or hint at things to come, so reading through all of them is advised.
To delve deeper into the phone, you’ll need to activate the WiFi for Melren. You need the password, which is hinted at in Uncle Raymond’s messages.
You can check Uncle Raymond, and then Teo’s messages to get a hint. The password is actually the Melren zipcode, which you can find in the Weather app.
The zipcode is 29064.
Now that you’re connected to the internet you can start delving into the emails.
Password puzzles
Read through all of the emails in all of the folders, just like in the messages, for more information about what is happening - particularly the messages from Lovbirds and Alice. You can also tap attachments to save them. You can view images in the gallery, and music in the music app. You also get the dates the images were taken, hint hint.
There’s an unfinished email in the drafts folder that you can send, prompting Alice to reply.
In her reply, Alice drops a hint that you often use important dates as passwords. You can use this information to crack in to the Lovbirds app, with some details.
You can figure out the passwords yourself, but an important piece of info the game doesn’t reveal is that dates are often four figures in month/day order.
The password for the Sam-Thing account is 0131, their birthday, of course. Here you can read through Sam’s messages to illuminate yourself.
The password for the Sam-Thing Else account is a little more obscure. You might remember the book festival being mentioned in the messages, the date of the book festival is the password for the account: 1219.
Sam Thing-Else
Now you can go through Sam-Thing Else’s messages, and things here are much more interesting, especially the chat with Phil_free. Read through the convo, taking note of the forum link and his prompt for a picture. Remember, you have blue eyes.
To move things on you’ll need to send a picture of you in a wig, which you can find on the forum that he linked. Click through to the VIP section and fail the password three times in order to trigger a password reset.
You need your father’s year of birth, which thanks to the pictures we found in the emails earlier, we know he turned 54 on December 21st 2015. It’s currently January 31st 2016 (in-game, obviously), so he must’ve been born in 1961.
After entering this you’ll get an email with a new password so you can log in to the VIP section.
True self
Here you’ll find a bunch of pictures of a festival Sam recently went to, you can download all of these by clicking them, but only one is essential - one of Sam, with blue eyes and a pride flag on her cheek. You can send this to Phil_free.
The conversation in the forum also mentions a fake calculator app - yep, that calculator app has a secret behind it.
Phil_free mentions that the place the picture was taken was Covonia - he’s a bright one. You can look at the other cities section in the weather app to find Covonia’s zipcode, which you can then enter into the calculator, followed by =.
The zip code is 85922, if you don't fancy digging around for it.
This will unlock a diary behind the calculator, which contains all of the truths Sam has hidden from so many people.
Once you get to the end, you’ll receive an email, which will strongly hint at wanting everything on the phone deleted. There’s an option for exactly that in the settings.
