Hello Everyone! While Golden Fantasia is best enjoyed with an arcade stick or game pad, we've made a work-around guide on how you can bind your keyboard buttons in Golden Fantasia. Keep in mind this a workaround using a third party tool, so we can't guarantee it, but it should work for you!

Let's start with the default control scheme. Ougon is technically a 5-button game with a start button.

On an arcade joystick, the button layout on your left six buttons would look like this.

On the keyboard, Z, X, and C are you Light, Medium, and Strong Attacks - the top row of buttons. S is your default Touch/Tag button, which would be "D" above. The shift key allows your "appeal" - which is a taunt that heals a tiny bit of health, which is the "E" button above.

These buttons can be combined for various actions. AB (Z+X) is what you use for an SP special attack, BC (X+C) and a left or right direction near your opponent is used for grab, and ABC (Z+X+C) is used to activate metaworld. Oh, and of course, the arrow buttons are so you can move.

In fighting games, we always refer to the buttons with ABCDE, and the directional pad like this.

So quarter circle forward and activating your special simple becomes, 236AB, with jump moves using the "j." prefix. We do this because it makes it easier to communicate, and is a standard notation in the anime fighting game community. Through this notation it's very easy to understand 5A 5B 5C 66 5A 5B 5C 6D 236C means "hit light, medium, strong, dash forward, then hit light, medium, strong, then tag in with 6d and do your quarter circle forward C" no matter what your controls are binded to and would be arduous to write out!

For now, there is no way to internally remap keyboard buttons in Golden Fantasia, so this is a workaround. It also lets you map shortcuts if you'd like.

After installing, it will ask you for permission to install a driver, allow it to do so by pressing OK.

Once it’s installed, execute VJoy.exe (there should be a shortcut created on your desktop) and a little icon should appear in your taskbar at the bottom right.

Double click it and a button configuration window will come up. Starting from Button 1, assign the keys you’d like to have as controls for Golden Fantasia. In order to do that, press the little “…” button for the button of choice, and then press the key of choice on your keyboard. If your assigned buttons overlap with Golden Fantasia's default controls (WASD, Spacebar, etc.), enable "Block Keys" so that ingame functions don't overlap.

Once that’s done, press the “Save ini” button in order to save your keymaps to a file. You have to load it every time you start VJoy.

Make sure that you checked the “Enable” checkbox or your keys will not work!

Once all your controls of choice have been mapped, it’s time to launch Golden Fantasia’s configuration tool.

Under Controller Settings, click Controller (Vjoy) next to Player 1. The A B C D Taunt Start menu will show up for the in-game controls.

From there, assign your buttons from Vjoy in this menu. For example, if Button 1 in Vjoy is set to Z, and Button 1 is A (weak) here, then pressing Z will execute a Weak attack ingame. You might want to enable "Use Control Stick" to avoid fringe cases where vjoy prevents you from doing multidirectional inputs, such as forward/back jumps.

A page displaying the move lists of each character and what they do. Each character can make their normal attacks into SP attacks, consuming 1 stock. Super attacks cost 2 stocks while meta attacks can be used infinitely while Meta-World is active.

An expansion for PC was released on December 31, 2011, titled Ougon Musou Kyoku CROSS.

The tag-team fighting game based on the original "Umineko When They Cry" series, finally released on Steam, in English and with improved rollback netplay!

George, Jessica, and Rosa from the Ushiromiya family join the fray, as this release of Golden Fantasia includes the Cross Expansion from the original Japanese version! All the lines used during combat, story mode, as well match opening and closings are fully voiced in Japanese to bring realism to your combat!

In Golden Fantasia, matches are tag-team fights between two pairs of characters from the Umineko series, each sharing HP building SP for each other through a unique mechanic - the touch system!

During combat players can consume their SP Gauge and initiate their Meta World, but only if your opponent chooses to or otherwise cannot argue their truth and cancel yours!

Battler Ushiromiya

Blue Truth: Battler launches a blue truth projectile in the shape of an eagle. SP version becomes a laser beam.
Blue Strike: Battler delivers an uppercut.
Sommelier Finger: Battler gropes the opponent.
Blue Raid: Battler delivers a downward kick charged with blue truth. SP version follows up with an upward kick.
Checkmate by a Shocking Truth: Battler delivers a series of strikes.
The Blue Truth that Pierces All: Battler fires a beam of blue truth at his opponent.

Beatrice

Midair Floating: Beatrice can float in the air by holding the up button.
Arise, Seven Stakes!: Beatrice throws a stake. SP version throws a barrage of stakes.
Red Truth: Beatrice delivers an upward strike.
I am the Golden Storm!: Beatrice transforms into a swarm of butterflies and charges the opponent.
Seal of Misfortune: In midair, Beatrice creates a magic circle to damage the opponent.
Beatrice's Closed Room Definition: Beatrice traps the opponent inside of a closed room, dealing a number of attacks.
Summon Twin Battle Towers: Beatrice summons her Shoulder Towers.
- All Ballistae Fire!: The towers fire upon her opponent.
Ange Ushiromiya
- Stun Boost: Temporarily raises stun damage dealt.
- Summon Sakutaro: Ange summons Sakutaro to follow her.
  - Go, Sakutaro!: Sakutaro charges at the opponent and disappears.
  - See You Again: Ange jumps into the air and falls onto her opponent, mimicking her jump off of the skyscraper in Alliance of the Golden Witch.
  Lucifer
  - Attack Touch: Free Attack touch (single use).
  - Lucifer Blade: Lucifer attacks the opponent with magic swords, up to 3 times in succession. The last attack can be made into an SP attack.
  - Magic Circle: Lucifer disappears and reappears from a magic circle to attack the opponent.
  - Stake of Pride: Lucifer transforms into a stake and gores the opponent.
  - Murder Drama of the Proud Eldest Sister: Lucifer deals a series of strikes.
  - The Seven Sisters of Purgatory, right here!: Lucifer summons the remaining Sisters of Purgatory to restrain her opponent as Lucifer transforms into a stake and gouges them.
  Ronove
  - Counter Boost: Increases damage on counter hits.
  - Elegant Sway: Ronove dodges attacks. Low, medium and heavy inputs determine which direction he goes.
  - Elegant Cutter: While guarding, Ronove counterattacks with a rose petal-charged kick. SP version creates a storm of rose petals.
  - Innocent Rose: Ronove attacks with a giant rose.
  - Elegant Shield: Ronove creates a shield in different directions. If his shield is struck, Ronove launches a counterattack. SP version launches the opponent into the air to be caught by Ronove.
  - Enchanted Shield: Ronove creates a giant shield in front of him.
  - Elegant Genocide: Ronove delivers a series of strikes, ending with roundhouse kicks.
  - A Devil Among Devils: Ronove unleashes his inner demon and brutalizes the opponent.
  Virgilia
  - Brimful: Generates SP over time for both characters.
  - Place Magic Circle: Virgilia places a magic circle on the ground.
    - Crucify: The magic circle erupts and attacks the opponent.
    - Fallen Tower: Virgilia drops a tower onto the opponent.
    - Magic Item Show: Virgilia delivers a series of strikes using knives, mirrors and candelabras.
    - Summon Odin: Virgilia summons Odin to strike the opponent with a divine spear.
    Shannon
    - Auto-Guard: Automatically guards when possible.
    - Magical Barrier: Shannon creates a barrier at varying distances that breaks and damages the opponent. SP version creates a stronger barrier.
    - Confinement Barrier: Shannon traps the opponent inside a barrier and damages them.
    - Feed the Birds: Shannon summons a seagull to swoop in and damage the opponent.
    - Defensive Barrier: Shannon creates a barrier around herself.
    - You told me to speak up, right?: Shannon rapidly slaps the opponent.
    - Lightning of the Contract: Shannon throws a mirror to the ground and calls for Beatrice, striking her opponent with lightning.
    Kanon
    - Silent Attack: Reduces the amount of SP the opponent gains from attacking.
    - Triangle Jump: Kanon can jump diagonally.
    - Leaping Wolf: Kanon jumps to avoid attacks.
    - Water Surface Slice: Kanon does an upward slash.
    - Shadow Cutter: Kanon does a crouching dash attack.
    - Crescent Moon Strike: Kanon does a downward slash.
    - Red Blur: Moonlight Wolf Shadow: Kanon launches his opponent into the air, slashing them all the way.
    - Red Blue: Silver-Moon Slash: Kanon delivers a flurry of sword slices.
    EVA-Beatrice
    - Berserk: Temporarily increases damage dealt.
    - Midair Dash: EVA can dash in the air.
    - Red Spiderweb: EVA pulls the opponent towards her with a spiderweb.
    - Tri-Color Jelly Time: EVA creates a giant jelly to block the opponent's movement. SP version drops a jelly onto her opponent.
    - One-Winged Eagle Staff: EVA swings her staff at the opponent.
    - Dream of Flying Through the Sky: While in midair, EVA picks up the opponent and flies them offscreen, slamming them to the ground. SP version slams the opponent onto a pointed fence, mimicking Rosa's death in Banquet of the Golden Witch.
    - All the Chocolate and Rare Cheese You Can Eat: EVA drops a pile of sweets and food onto the opponent.
    - If only you'd just give up and die!: EVA delivers a series of strikes.
    - Spiderweb Closed Room: EVA ensnares the opponent in a spider web and swings them around.
    Chiester 410
    - Break Boost: Increased guard damage on block.
    - Triangle Jump: 410 can jump diagonally into the air.
    - Golden Bow: 410 launches a golden arrow. SP version launches a series of arrows. In midair, SP version launches a volley of arrows.
    - Rabbit Rolling: 410 rolls into the opponent.
    - Anti-Air Guided Arrow: 410 launches an arrow that homes in on opponents. SP version launches a volley of arrows.
    - Reverse Anti-Air Guided Arrow: 410 launches an arrow behind her that homes in on opponents. SP version launches a volley of arrows.
    - Dance of the Rabbits: 410 delivers a series of strikes.
    - Activate Guided Sniping System: 410 summons Chiester 45 to help launch a series of arrows that periodically home in on the opponent.
    Jessica Ushiromiya
    - Enchantment: Jessica enchants her fists with a fire upgrade.
      - A Maiden's Heartbreak: Jessica delivers a flaming punch.
      - A Maiden's Explosion: Jessica punches the ground and makes fire erupt.
      - Jessie Roll: Jessica deals a rapid barrage of punches.
      - Thanks for listening!: Jessica dons a Marisa Kirisame cosplay and blasts the opponent with a rainbow beam.
      George Ushiromiya
      - The Monarch's Heel: George swings up and delivers a downward kick.
      - Transmigratory Spin: George rolls to dodge attacks. SP version damages opponents.
      - The Great King's Whirlwind Kick: George delivers a spin kick. SP version becomes a barrage of kicks.
      - Flying Meteor Kick: While backed against a wall, George delivers a downward kick. SP version covers more distance.
      - Nirvana Kick: George kicks the opponent and stops short of hitting them, making them pause. This empties the opponent's touch gauge.
      - Teachings of the Monarch: George takes a stance. Upon being attacked, George delivers a series of kicks while reciting the three things a monarch needs.
      Rosa Ushiromiya
      - Detachment: Disables opponent touch gauge on hit (single use).
      - Rolling Sheep: Rosa rolls out of the way to dodge attacks.
      - Reload: Rosa loads a bullet into her Winchester.
        
        Sawed-Off Rifle: Rosa fires her gun. Low, medium and heavy inputs determine which direction she fires.
        
        Justice Shot: Rosa kicks the opponent and rebounds, firing her Winchester.
        
        Goat Hunting: Rosa delivers a series of strikes, ending with a point-blank shot from her Winchester.
        
        The Bullet Maria Chambered: Rosa receives an extra Winchester from Maria and fires both guns at her opponent.
        
        Dlanor A. Knox
        
        Jungfrau Cornelia: Dlanor summons Cornelia to shield her from projectiles. SP version summons Gertrude to create a stronger shield.
        
        Kirsch Eisen: Dlanor dashes into the opponent. SP version summons Gertrude and Cornelia to strengthen the attack.
        
        Turm Träne: Activated in midair, Dlanor grabs the opponent and slams them into the ground. SP version spins them around before slamming them.
        
        The Knox Decalogue: Dlanor lifts the opponent behind her back and slams them down.
        
        Roter Schlüssel: Dlanor delivers a downward slash.
        
        Heilig Todesurteil: Dlanor delivers a series of sword slashes while reciting her "Die the Death" tirade.

        Flying Reasoning: Erika uses her scythe as a propeller to launch herself into the air. SP version makes her spin her scythe rapidly and dash through the opponent.
        
        Little Grey Cells: Erika stands in place and thinks to herself. Upon being attacked, she disappears and reappears just as suddenly.
        
        Propose a Theory: Erika throws her scythe like a boomerang.
        
        Slice the Cheese in Two. Erika does a downward slice.
        
        Slice the Cheese in Four. A follow up attack where Erika does an upward slash.
        
        Fire, Goats!: Erika summons goats to fire cannons upon her opponent.
        
        A Perfect Corpse Examination: Erika covers the opponent in a trash bag and slices their head off, mimicking her actions in Dawn of the Golden Witch.
        
        Black Battler
        
        Black Truth: Black Battler fires a black projectile at the opponent. SP version fires a burst of projectiles.
        
        Black Strike: Black Battler delivers an uppercut.
        
        Deathfinger: Black Battler dashes into the opponent. SP version makes him grab the opponent and rapidly punch them.
        
        Black Raid: Black Battler does a downward kick. SP version follows up with an upwards spin kick.
        
        Checkmate by a Sickening Truth: Black Battler summons Rudolf and Kyrie to fire on the opponent, who laugh maniacally afterwards.

        Gameplay
        
        Golden Fantasia consists of a 2D fighting style with sprites used for the characters. Players select two characters; the active character known as the Attacker and the inactive character known as the Reserve; and fight other pairs in matches. Gameplay involves the use of the Meta-World, enabling the use of super moves and activating passive abilities. Players are thus encouraged to switch between characters to make use of their abilities and to perform combos.
        
        The player also has the option of playing Normal Mode or Princess Mode: Normal Mode is the standard control scheme while Princess Mode omits some moves but makes button inputs easier to do.
