The TC-280 Prototype is a drone sometimes found on the third level, Rallypoint Delta. More than one can spawn, and more than one can follow the players at once. The TC-280 Prototype is massive drone with great firepower, and a great price, usually costing more than ten regular chests.
The Prototype does have a few weaknesses, however. It is large and slow, and therefore susceptible to most ranged attacks. It also frequently gets stuck in terrain, especially within caves.
The player can land and stand on the drone.
It is not uncommon for the drone to start spinning in circles and not follow the player.
The TC-280 Prototype is a rare drone found only on Rallypoint Delta.
It is a lot more expensive than other drones, costing roughly as much as a Legendary Chest [requires testing] , but is accordingly powerful (and much larger) relative to other drones.
Despite this, the drone is likely to die quickly during lategame, limiting its usefulness beyond the first two or three loops.
Skills & Behavior
The Prototype fires its machine gun, dealing 15 * 220% damage.
This skill has a cooldown of 4 seconds.
The Prototype fires its missiles, dealing a maximum of 2 * 400% damage, weakening the farther enemies are from the center of the explosion.
This skill has a cooldown of 6 seconds, along with being able to store two charges of this skill

It actually lays down quite a lot of damage.
If you manage to get two of them to actually follow you to the teleporter they will totally solo the whole event for you.
The PROBLEM is that they can barely fly. The AI for drones is frankly kind of embarrassing. THAT'S what needs to be fixed.
Also make it so things like Wandering Vagrant and Void Reavers don't instantly make every drone you have useless. I don't think it would be game breaking at all to just make those drones immune to such massive AOE attacks that they could never dream to dodge even if they knew how.
20 мая. 2020 в 14:32I agree it's pretty terrible, even after the drone changes. It does a lot of damage, yes, but the sheer size of it makes it easy prey for enemies.
The real problem as I see it, is the cost, as you mentioned. You're not going to be able to afford it on the first loop unless you have Sacrifice on. On the second loop you're good, but on the third loop drones start being less useful as they die too easily. That means you more or less have 1 loop in which you can possibly utilize the TC-280.
I prefer drones approaching this plateau. It would be a bit too boring if drones were invincible and would carry you to the end. The TC-280 is also not something you should be able to get every run, just like the gold chest / AWU might be off limits if you took too long in the first few stages. That said, the TC-280 only spawns on 1 stage, and when you usually have the money for it, it's going to die immediately anyways. It seems to me like somewhat wasted potential. I wonder if it would change anything if the cost was decreased to 65% - 75% of what it currently is.
