We're going to remove the payment feature from the Skyrim workshop. For anyone who spent money on a mod, we'll be refunding you the complete amount. We talked to the team at Bethesda and they agree.

We've done this because it's clear we didn't understand exactly what we were doing. We've been shipping many features over the years aimed at allowing community creators to receive a share of the rewards, and in the past, they've been received well. It's obvious now that this case is different.

To help you understand why we thought this was a good idea, our main goals were to allow mod makers the opportunity to work on their mods full time if they wanted to, and to encourage developers to provide better support to their mod communities. We thought this would result in better mods for everyone, both free & paid. We wanted more great mods becoming great products, like Dota, Counter-strike, DayZ, and Killing Floor, and we wanted that to happen organically for any mod maker who wanted to take a shot at it.

But we underestimated the differences between our previously successful revenue sharing models, and the addition of paid mods to Skyrim's workshop. We understand our own game's communities pretty well, but stepping into an established, years old modding community in Skyrim was probably not the right place to start iterating. We think this made us miss the mark pretty badly, even though we believe there's a useful feature somewhere here.

Now that you've backed a dump truck of feedback onto our inboxes, we'll be chewing through that, but if you have any further thoughts let us know.


The Steam Workshop has always been a great place for discovering community-made mods, maps, and items for a variety of games. Starting now with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the Workshop is also a great place for community content creators to earn money by selling their greatest works.

We think this is a great opportunity to help support the incredible creative work being done by mod makers in the Steam Workshop and to encourage more top-quality work. This new feature allows mod authors to choose whether to list their items for a fixed price, for pay-what-you-want, or to make their item available for free. As a customer and fan of Skyrim, you're able to explore both paid and free mods, quests, and items.

Along with these new options available to mod-creators, we've added a few features to support the experience and make everything as easy as possible:

With over 24,000 free mods available for Skyrim in the Steam Workshop, there will always be lots to do and explore for free. Now you can also find mods with a specified price, or mods where you can choose how much you wish to support the creators. The price is up to the mod creators.

Whether you're just getting started or are already a professional artist or developer, now you can make money from your creations in the Steam Workshop.

Starting with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, you can make new cosmetic items, custom skins, fancy houses, epic quests, entire new cities, or just a new hat for Lydia. Once you've made your creation, you can easily set a price and earn a portion of each sale made through the Steam Workshop.

When we launched the Workshop late in 2011, we expected that it would grow, but not that it would grow this much, this quickly. So far, the total payments made to individuals for the creation of in-game items sold in Team Fortress 2, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive have passed $57 million. This money was earned by over 1,500 contributors spread out across 75 countries.

The limitation of paid, revenue-generating Workshops to Valve content has been an unfortunate consequence of the sheer number of challenges required in order to scale to a global audience of creators and players. Today we're happy to announce that after a ton of work, the first curated Workshops for non-Valve games have opened: Dungeon Defenders: Eternity and Chivalry: Medieval Warfare.


This is really exciting news and means that more high quality content will be available for the game you love playing. Plus, purchases of this great new content directly enables those community members to continue practicing their craft and making more awesome content.

We expect more curated Workshops to become available for creators and players in various games over the coming weeks and months.

The Workshop has continued to grow and a larger number of contributors are now earning revenue from more pieces of content in a wider variety of games. To help answer questions about where revenue is coming from, we're also launching a set of new tools that enable contributors to view real-time sales data for their items as well as view detailed per-item revenue breakdowns and historical statements.


Once you have content accepted into a paid, curated Workshop, you'll see a link to "View Your Revenue" from your "My Workshop Files" page. If you don't have any content accepted yet, now's a great time to get involved!


We just released an update for the Steam Workshop that adds a voting queue for item selection and a new home page for each Workshop to highlight cool content.

Workshops for games such as Team Fortress 2, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive include a type of items that players vote on to help determine which items can get accepted and made available for use in the game.

Workshops with these types of items now have a voting queue, similar to the queue in Greenlight or on the Steam home page. This queue will make it easy to discover new and interesting items to vote on, and will help the game teams get a better measure of community interest on the variety of items being considered for use in the game.

Each product Workshop now has a new home page design, helping to highlight the most interesting content in the Workshop, and to also better expose a variety of ways to browse the Workshop. With this new home page, customers can now more easily see mods, maps, or items created by authors they follow, see what their friends are marking as favorites, and read about recent Workshop news from the game teams.

This new home page also provides space for games to run special events such as themed contests, or to highlight new types of content supported by their Workshop.

This update has automatically applied to all games and software with a Steam Workshop, so just check out your favorite Workshop to see these new features.

The following is a comprehensive list of official maps found in Killing Floor. The list comprises of the five core maps; four of which being updated ports from the Killing Floor mod and the fifth being a port from Red Orchestra, the three Tripwire maps released during the summer of 2009, the maps from the Twisted Christmas event, the Halloween event maps, and the five third party maps added during the Grindhouse mapping competition. All officially listed maps have related achievements for completion, all of which are only awarded when playing a long game - more achievements are completed by getting the achievements for a specific difficulty level on one set of maps (except the Hell on Earth difficulty). The list also includes the two system maps, Menu and Intro, which were originally playable through map voting.

Grindhouse Maps [ edit ]

Both the Grindhouse and Incendiary maps were the result of the Grindhouse map design competition held by Tripwire Interactive to include community-created maps into the official map list. These maps consist of mostly first, second and third place winners of the two waves of Grindhouse competitions.

Crash [ edit ]

Crash was recognised as an official map following its placing of 3rd in the second wave of the Grindhouse mapping competition. It is a remake of an early custom map for the original Killing Floor mod, making it the fifth official map which pre-dates the retail version of Killing Floor. Created by Michael Hewish and Corey Sine. The achievements Warehouse Janitor, Warehouse Forklift Operator, Warehouse Foreman and Warehouse Manager are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Departed [ edit ]

Departed was recognised as an official map following its placing of 2nd in the second wave of the Grindhouse mapping competition. Created by Jeroen van Wamelen and Jessy De Lannoit. The achievements Departure Gallery, Departure Lounge, Departure Gate and Dear Departed are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Filths Cross [ edit ]

Filths Cross came first place in the first wave of the Grindhouse mapping competition and was eventually recognised as an official map along side the top three from the second wave. Created by Justyn Toohill. The achievements Running Late, Missed Connection,Train Wreck and Pile Up are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Icebreaker [ edit ]

Icebreaker was the victor of the second wave of the Grindhouse mapping competition. Created by Damien Laurent and Yoann Guilloud. The achievements Ice Cube, Crushed Ice, Iceberg and Comet are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Waterworks [ edit ]

Waterworks was the victor of the first wave of the Grindhouse mapping competition. It was the first non-Tripwire map to become recognised as an official map. Created by Damien Laurent. The achievements Slight Drip, Burst Pipe, Pressure Failure and Floodgate to Hell are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Twisted Christmas [ edit ]

Released with the yearly Twisted Christmas updates, the Christmas maps bring along, for limited times, Christmas-themed specimens and Christmas-exclusive achievements. The maps are playable all year round, albeit with the regular specimens.

Evil Santa's Lair [ edit ]

Evil Santa's Lair is a Christmas-themed map based in Santa's Grotto, created by Tripwire Interactive for the Twisted Christmas 2010 update. The area is supposed to be based on the idea of 'Santa's workshop'. The achievements Walking in A Winter Horror Land, Silent Night, Evil Night, I'm Dreaming of a Red Christmas and Grandma got Eaten by a Reindeer are dark puns of classic Christmas carols, and are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Ice Cave [ edit ]

Ice Cave is an official map introduced in the second Twisted Christmas update on 8 December 2011. It came with 9 new Christmas-themed achievements.

Moon Base [ edit ]

Moon Base is a christmas map implemented at the Twisted Christmas event starting on the 12/12/12. The map depicts Evil Santa's new base on the moon after his ice cave was destroyed. Unique to the map is the low gravity which allows both players and specimen to jump higher and move through the air slower. The achievements Have my axe; Game Over, Man!; One Small Step for Man; Gimli That Axe; But It's all Red; Here is to us; Attempting Re-entry; Amusing Death; One Giant Leap (Back) for Mankind were released with the map. Here is to us, Attempting Re-entry, Amusing Death and One Giant Leap (Back) for Mankind is for beating Moon Base on either Normal, Hard, Suicidal or Hell on Earth.

Incendiary maps [ edit ]

The Incendiary set of maps were created in the Grindhouse competition held by Tripwire Interactive, in an attempt to include community-made maps into the official game. These maps consist of the runner-ups to the two waves of Grindhouse competitions.

Biohazard [ edit ]

Biohazard was a runner-up in the first wave of the Grindhouse mapping competition, and was created by Justyn Toohill. The level bears similarities to Biotics Lab, and is mentioned to be a separate lab located in Huntington. The achievements Waste Disposal, Waste Land, Waste of Space and Wasted are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Hospital Horrors [ edit ]

Hospital Horrors was a runner-up in the first wave of the Grindhouse mapping competition under the name of Hospital. It takes place in a hospital supposedly situated beside the Horzine labs. It was created by Justyn Toohill. The achievements Gimme Plaster!, That Bloody Well Hurts!, I'm Dying Here!, and Not Dead Yet! are taken from quotes of when the player's character is near death, and are rewarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Suburbia [ edit ]

Suburbia takes place in an American suburban neighborhood, featuring a gas station and several other buildings the player(s) can enter. It was created by Paul Ziccio. The achievements Neighborhood Watch, Private Security, Vigilante and SWAT are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Mountain Pass [ edit ]

Mountain Pass was selected as one of the best maps entered in the Grindhouse map-making competition, and was created by Kevin Butt. The level takes place at some abandoned camp grounds, surrounded by a road and rest stops. The achievements Daytrip, Gone Camping, Mountaineer, and Park Ranger are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Portal 2 release [ edit ]

As part of the Portal 2 pre-release alternative reality game, on the 12th April, the Aperture map was released. Along with the map, the update brought along (for a limited time) a Trader change, changing the model to a Portal-style AI Core and new voice clips to sound like GLaDOS. While the event is over, the map is still playable, albeit with the regular Trader.

Aperture [ edit ]

Aperture is based off of the test chambers in the Aperture Science test facility. It was created by Tripwire Interactive for the ARG. The achievements Science Got Done, Still Alive, This is a Triumph and I'm Making a Note Here, Huge Success are lines, or part of lines, from the song Still Alive used for the Portal 1 credits, and are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Winter 2013 [ edit ]

Winter 2013 maps were maps that were added in Twisted Christmas 2013. These maps belong to the Twisted Christmas update, but belong in their own category since they aren't event maps.

Hell [ edit ]

Hell is 1 of 2 maps included in Twisted Christmas 2013. It is a large map with multiple specimen heads (mainly Gorefast and Husk ) scattered around it. The achievements for this map were Death, King Minos, Cerberus, and Lucifer.

Forgotten [ edit ]

Forgotten is the second map included in Twisted Christmas 2013. It is a rather big map resembling a sewage system. The achievements that came with this map were Brain Fart, Agnosia, Amnesia, and Dementia

Summer 2009 maps [ edit ]

These maps were released in the Summer of '09 by Tripwire Interactive and predate the Summer Sideshow events. The achievements Long, Hot Summer; Summer of 2009; and Back to School are awarded for completing all three maps on Normal, Hard and Suicidal respectively (as of now, there is no achievement for completing these maps on Hell on Earth difficulty).

Bedlam [ edit ]

Bedlam was the first map released with the Level up content pack update. Set in the aftermath of a Halloween rave at a crumbling abandoned lunatic asylum, you and your squad must fight through the claustrophobic hallways and open commons areas sanitizing any specimens you find. The achievements A Bit Barmy, Gone Mental, Complete Barking and Commit-ed for Life are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Foundry [ edit ]

Foundry was the first addition to the five core maps. It was added in the "Heavy Metal Content Pack" update along side the AK-47, Katana and the Outbreak character pack. The achievements Tin Man, Steel Worker, Man of Steel and Diablo Steel Man are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Wyre [ edit ]

Wyre was the second map released with the Level up content pack update. Set deep in the creepy woodlands of southern England you and your squad must clear out the forest working your way to the hidden Horzine research facility. The achievements Squirrel King of the Dark Forest, Raccoon King of the Dark Forest, Bear King of the Dark Forest and Wolf King of the Dark Forest are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Рождественские карты [ edit ]

Выпущенные во время Искривленного Рождества карты и также на короткий промежуток времени рождественские мутанты, и новые достижения. После этого события, в эти карты по-прежнему можно играть, но уже с обычными мутантами.

Логово Злого Санты [ edit ]

Логово Злого Санты — карта в Новогоднем стиле, находящееся в логове Санты. Созданная компанией Tripwire Interactive специально для Искривленного Рождества. Идея карты была – сделать карту, похожую на «Мастерскую Санты». Ледяная пещера [ edit ]

Ледяная пещера — официальная карта, выпущенная во время второго Искривленного Рождества, 8 Декабря 2011 года. Core maps [ edit ]

These maps were included in the retail copy of Killing Floor when it was first released, with the achievements The Long War, The Hard War and The Completely Suicidal War awarded upon completing all five maps on Normal, Hard and Suicidal difficulty levels respectively (As of this time, there is no achievement for completing all five maps on Hell on Earth difficulty).

Biotics Lab [ edit ]

Biotics Lab is one of the four maps from the Killing Floor mod. Its a tight map comprising mostly of corridors adjoining several rooms. The achievements Lab Cleaner, Assistant, Professor and Scientist From Hell are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Farm [ edit ]

Farm originates as a port from Red Orchestra. Its a large open map with a small number of buildings and a surrounding fence blockade to mark the edge of the map. The achievements Chicken, Cattle, Alligator Farmer and Demon Farmer are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Manor [ edit ]

Manor is one of the four maps from the Killing Floor mod. Its set upon an abandoned manor, with an open exterior and interior grounds. The achievements Lord of the Manor, Duke of the Manor, Emperor of the Manor and Demonic King of the Manor are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Offices [ edit ]

Offices is one of the four maps from the Killing Floor mod. Its setting takes place at the Biotech office complex, above the Laboratory map and was under remodeling. The number of floors make up for its limited space, including the rooftop. The achievements The Boss, Hard Boss, Mad Boss and Boss from Hell are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

West London [ edit ]

West London is one of the four maps from the Killing Floor mod. It is an open, narrow map, with most of the combat taking place within the streets. However, the action can be redirected into one of the location's open facilities. The achievements Pub Crawl, Hard Pub Crawl, Suicidal Pub Crawl and Hellish Pub Crawl are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Summer Sideshow [ edit ]

Released with the yearly Summer Sideshow event updates, the Summer maps bring along, for limited times, Circus-themed specimens along with Summer-exclusive achievements. The maps are playable all year round, albeit with only regular specimens.

Abusement Park [ edit ]

Abusement Park is a Circus themed map, created by Tripwire Interactive, for the Summer Sideshow update. With the 2nd update of the Summer Sideshow, Abusement Park went through some minor changes. The achievements Flea Circus, Dog and Pony Show, 3 Ring Circus and On Top of the Big Top are awarded upon its completion on Normal, Hard, Suicidal, and Hell on Earth difficulty levels respectively.

Hellride [ edit ]

Hellride, created by Tripwire Interactive, is an expansion for the Circus theme map Abusement Park and part of the Summer Sideshow Event. At the beginning of Abusement Park, by taking a right and following a path, in a few moments you’ll notice Hellride stands out as an entrance. Keep in mind that Abusement Park and Hellride are separate maps. Hellride will start off the ride with heavenly singing angels to hellish laughing demons. With the 2nd Summer Sideshow update, it offers 9 more achievements: Spec Ops, Combat Medic, Fugly, British Superiority, The Big One, Highway to Heaven, Stuck in Limbo, Demonic Road, and Devil's Co-pilot. Highway to Heaven, Stuck in Limbo, Demonic Road and Devil’s Co-pilot is for beating Hellride on either Normal, Hard, Suicidal or Hell on Earth.

Halloween Event [ edit ]

Hillbilly Horror is a second halloween theme map released. The map depicts a small establishment where swampfolk used to live, containing houses, trucks, barn and a trampoline. The achievements: Creepy Crawlies, Fiery Personality,Rippin'It Up, Soul Collector, I Am Become Death, Meet Your Maker, Third Cousins,Second Cousins,First Cousins (Once Removed) and First Cousins. Third Cousins, Second Cousins, First Cousins (Once Removed) and First Cousins is for beating Hillbilly Horror on either Normal, Hard, Suicidal or Hell on Earth.

Достижения «Блошиный цирк», «Шоу собак и пони», «Веселый балаган» и «Под Куполом Цирка» награждались игрокам за прохождение карты на уровнях сложности Нормальный, Тяжелый, Самоубийственный и Ад на Земле.

Portal 2 карта [ edit ]

Как часть акции с выходом Portal 2, 12 Апреля 2011 года была выпущена карта «Лаборатория Aperture Science». Вместе с обновлением, был заменен Торговец на «Ядро гнева» из игры Portal, а также был заменен её голос на голос GLaDOS. В эту карту также можно играть, но уже с обычным Торговцем.

Aperture [ edit ]

Лаборатория Apeture Science — карта, основанная на тестовых камерах из предприятии Aperture Science. Карта созданная компанией Tripwire Interactive специально для ARG. Достижения «Убийственная сила науки», «Всё ещё жив», «Это триумф» и «Меня здесь уважают. Это успех!» награждались игрокам за прохождение карты на уровнях сложности Нормальный, Тяжелый, Самоубийственный и Ад на Земле. Также, были добавлены две специальных достижения, которые можно было получить только во время этой акции: «Картофелемет» и «Золотой Клубень». Описание достижений является отсылкой к строкам финальной песни GLaDOS в игре Portal.

System maps [ edit ]

These maps are technically official, but are completely unplayable, and have no associated achievements; they are used to display the opening menu and intro sequence.

Menu [ edit ]

Menu is a system map; the background of the main menu. It contains only a single spawn point and a large cuboid object which cycles though the images seen on the main menu. It was only playable through map vote and cannot be completed as a map, due to the lack of any specimen spawn points on the map.

Intro [ edit ]

Intro is a system map. Its similar to Menu, except the image is of Tripwire's logo.
