Even the universal unit sounded so damn good. At the time I was given the option of this or the Miracle and I declined the Miracle due to the feedback that it was too dry sounding with a less than lifelike mid-range.
It seems the Miracle is now third in the overall line-up of CIEMs from Unique Melody. Priced at $1049 upwards the Miracle now seems mid-tier in 2016 given that flagship CIEMS now cost way over $2k.
As such feedback to date, at least on the V1, has been that it tonally has a more natural than a cold flat sound with very impressive staging qualities. Soundstage and imaging has traditionally been a weak link for BA designs so for the Miracle to be able to get that kind of critical praise in 2011 for a 6 driver design gave it a very competitive edge.
Now the opportunity to test that original Miracle, even as a universal, and see if the opinions were accurate has long since gone because Unique Melody have brought out a new version, the V2 Miracle.
The V2 has apparently has gone through some elements of re-tuning with the main focus as it seems to re-energize the mid-range and ease back on the dryness a little which were the two biggest criticisms of the V1.
How Does The Process Work?
Musicteck are the exclusive Unique Melody reps for the US and hail out of New Jersey. If you want your UM customs done and reside in the States then this is the place to send those ear impressions.
Impressions
Closed Over Open
For the Merlins my instructions were for an open impression as the resulting acrylic ear shells had a more relaxed design and extension than say the more pro-fit of the SA-43 from M-Fidelity or the V8 from 64Audio.
Things may have changed since then because UM now categorically states that a closed impression should be taken instead of an open impression in their guidelines. Ask your audiologist also about the pressure properties of the clay they are using before you begin the process.
Make sure it has a little bit of pressure build-up potential or the resulting ear impression may end up too vague in the final cutting process to get an accurate fit of the final CIEM in your ear.
Shipping
Once complete simply place them in a zip lock bag with a bit of air in them and maybe a single slightly crumpled tissue inside to absorb any heavy knocks and then put the bag into a small Tupperware case.
Then off they go with your favorite courier to UM. Usual turnaround time is stated at 25 days with shipping, before from you and after from them, adding about another week on top.
Options
The price is starting from $1049 meaning it can get a bit higher depending on the options you choose during the ordering process. If you stroll over to the Unique Melody Facebook page you can find some inspiration for those options including design, decals and accessories.
I strongly suggest you do that before ordering as the wealth of customization options is quite bewildering until you have a specific design in mind. Options such as left shell, right shell, left and right faceplate and even the tip have a long drop-down list of custom options. You can also choose whether to have a recessed or flat socket.
What Do You Get?
Impressive as it looked it is the least portable thing you can think of. Roll on 2016 and UM are pushing out aluminum hard pillboxes with threaded tops and clever cardboard boxes for accessories and packaging that is so much more compact and transportable.
If I am not mistaken Rhines use a version of this, though a slightly squarish design for their Stage 5, Lear have a shiny chrome-based one for the BD4.2 and JH Harvey with their Layla, Rosie and Roxanne pill cases which are the highest-profile ones I can think of.
Of course, there is merit in the Pelican cases being slightly larger and able to hold a few more bits and bobs such as a spare cable but they are far less portable as a result. In case you want even more portability the Miracle does come with a small black velvet pouch that will fit in your pocket very easily but with a lot less protective capabilities than the pillbox.
Build
Unique Melody has always been one of the best finishers in the business when it comes to crafting acrylic shells. My Merlin was super smooth and bursting with color and the Miracle is no different in regard to the quality of the craftsmanship.
Granted this is a universal unit and there are some slight sizing differences but otherwise it will be the same as what you get in a custom format. This is a BA design also so you will not find a vented bass port as you get on the Merlin or other hybrid designs so the isolation should also be top-notch with a full custom design.
Both the shell and the faceplate on the Miracle is almost seamless. It does help that it is an all-black design and it is possible translucent shells might show up on the joins a little easier but for my money, the polish on the seams is spot on.
Finishing
There are zero imperfections on the lacquer work also and not a bubble in sight on the shells. The carbon fiber plates are a deep inset behind a well-polished acrylic cover which is my preferred method for finishing faceplates.
I am not a fan of faceplates that have little or no protection beyond a thin layer of lacquer, it looks cheap. The fiber inserts in the Miracle look anything but cheap and I do admit I spent at least 2-3 minutes just waving them around to watch them flicker under light and give off a kind of 3-D type of effect. I am kind of simple in that way.
A first caveat though in the build quality is the fact this is the universal version and as such the customer version I am told is slightly smaller or at least not as tall. The Universal has to really house everything outside of the longer nozzle to ensure everyone who tries them can fit them comfortably.
With your own custom version they can set the mechanics a bit deeper and wider to suit your ear, keeping everything a bit smaller.
Fit & Seal
The second caveat is the fit and seal of the universal unit. It will only ever be 80-90% of the custom because it simply is not a perfect fit for your ear for isolation and comfort. I have to admit though in terms of seal and isolation the Comply tips did an excellent job blocking out a huge amount of ambient noise in the background.
The isolation is actually superior to my Merlins by about 10% given the Merlins have bass ports and superior to the accompanying silicone tips that came with them. Complies will change the signature slightly from the silicone tips but in terms of seal this was excellent.
The fit though was a little shade on the heavy side for me given that the slight girth of the shell on the universal version but given the comfort of the Merlin fit I see no reason to believe the Miracle would be any different in terms of comfort.
Cables
The Miracle, as in all CIEMS, utilizes a detachable cable and is made to be worn over the ear. The detachable connector can either be recessed or flat, in the case of this unit it came recessed which is my preference.
It is almost the same cable I received with the UM Merlin 5 years ago and pretty much close to the stock cable you get with most CIEMs these days only a bit heavier and stiffer. It has its pros and cons.
On the Merlin, it sounded a touch veiled until it got swapped out for some Twag and silver however it is memory retention free, easy to work with and light, and suffers from reasonably low microphonics.

Очень понравилось, блин. Сам не ожидал.
Звук в целом сочный, детальный, звонкий, мясной, без явно выраженных недостатков.
Они есть! После SM3 я как будто бы вату из ушей вытащил. При этом нет пищания, скрежетания и холода, как у тех же Re0. Я прямо наслаждаюсь всякими тарелочками, колокольчиками и прочим
Басхедам наушники не подойдут. Бас быстрый, собранный и детальный. Но количественно его не слишком много (может быть, конечно, сказывается плохая посадка сэмплов). Баса количественно меньше, чем в SM3 и W4, но больше, чем в сликах и Re0. По мне так его в самый раз.
Что не понравилось.
Некоторая грязь и расхлябанность звука. Местами эхо. Иногда, сибилянты. Мало нижнего баса. Списываю на то, что сэмплы мне очень плохо сели. Слушал их с насадками от Re0.
Если представить улучшения, ожидаемые от кастомизации под конкретное ухо: большая детальность и собранность, глубже бас, то я бы сказал, что наушники очень интересные.
Про сцену напоследок. Мой 801й всё ещё у Артёма, так что я слушал с Клипа. Клип сцену сбивает в кучу очень сильно сам по себе. Может, из-за плеера, может из-за выпяченной середины, но сцена не сильно широкая. Инструменты друг от друга отделены, но в стороны расставлены не широко.
Да, слушал на стоковом кабеле.

06.07.2012 21:38Звуковой почерк в целом похож на Mage. Но.
Сцена шире. Даже с клипом это чувствуется. Она ещё и трёхмерная! Это с клипом-то! Я слышу сцену в затычках! Ударные щас вступили сбоку и чуть из-за спины!
Бас глубже, его больше, чем в Mage, но он на другие частоты не налезает. Miracle играют как-то более спокойно и рафинированно, чем Mage. Сибилянтов меньше, расхлябанности и небольшой жёсткости и грязи нет. Звучание более мягкое и близкое к динамическому. Я бы сказал, более натуральное, но далеко не всем это понравится.
Вокал и гитарки - очень красивые, но нет повышенной мясистости и звонкости как у Mage.
Короче, Miracle мне тоже очень нравятся.
Опять же конечно есть недостатки (возможно) из-за сэмплов. Нет совсем глубинного баса, который я так понимаю обеспечивается плотной посадкой. Есть некоторая лёгкая притушёванность звука.

07.07.2012 19:35Итак, удалось послушать семплы уважаемого и добродетельного Frost’IK, за что ему больше спасибо.
Отдельно по посадке, отлично сели miracle с пенками монстр супер типс, прям практический идеально, похуже сели mage (так что нужно вносить поправку, если вдруг будете ориентироваться на мой отзыв).
Теперь по звуку, слушал на hifiman hm-601 Alex Edition, отчасти сравнивал ощущения со своими кастомами sleek sa6 в исполнение ambient-acoustics (и так, теперь когда все ключевый фигуры представлены и упомянуты).
Треки:
SOAD - Chop Suey! (для прослушки серединки великолепный трек, тут она просто вкусная и хрустящая должна быть)
Nickelback - Bottoms Up (проверка на то - пыхчет, квохчет и панчит ли бас)
Diablo Swing Orchestra - A Tapdancer's Dilemma (колобарация различных ожидания от звука, тут все, но главное наверное – это общий эмоциональный фон и сцена)
+ кусочки Darkane - The Killing Of I и James Labrie - Jekyll Or Hyde, для того чтобы убедиться в некотором предположении, о нем ниже по тексту.
Общее впечатление – лучшие кастомы и многодрайверы и вообще затыконы, которые я слышал на сегодняшний момент. Отличная драйвовая подача, которая не напрягает слух, т.е. как бы и расслабленная одновременно, типа «чувак не парся мы все могем, сыграем как нужно и как ты любишь». Отличное разрешение и детализация, ничего не забыто и нигде не тушуется, послезвучая в тарелочках – шелест вытягивается просто замечательно, тонкости вокала еще лучше. Хотел с ними сегодня и уйти, но Макс был бдителен))
SOAD - Chop Suey!. В первом треке мираклы дают поразительный драйв и естественное звучание вокала и барабанов. Все очень органично и ровно, но черт побери, как драйвово и вовлекающее. Немного акцентируются шипящие на вокале Сержа, но это мелочи. Бас уходит в инфру, по ощущениям от баса – это denon d7000 в миниатюре. Очень вкусно звучит рабочий, прям с хрустом, как мы любим (ориентир по частоте самой вкусноти 600-800 гц). Высокие частоты очень чистые, я такого на арматуре еще не слышал, тарелки звучат натурально и протяжно, со всеми необходимыми послезвучиями. Сцена прописана аккуратно, но самое поразительно нет ощущения отделения музыки от слушателя, по ощущениям – это как будто стоишь в первом ряду перед сценой и исполнителем.
Nickelback - Bottoms Up. На втором треке мираклы просто разрывают голову мощным панчем и пыхчем и просто фигачат, как и нужно для этой незамысловатой рок композиции. В остальном тут слушать особо и нечего, хорошая сцена, опять же немного подчеркнутый вокал.
Diablo Swing Orchestra A Tapdancer's Dilemma. В третьем треке просто чудесная сцена (не большая и не маленькая, просто какая-то правильная, такое ощущение, что просто совпадение с ожиданиями) и динамичная подача, сидеть и не притопывать и прихлопывать просто нельзя. Женский вокал изумителен, опять же нет ощущения что звук идет из наушников, просто музыка и ты. Сибилянтов не замечено.
Darkane - The Killing Of I и James Labrie - Jekyll Or Hyde. По отдельным кусочкам, после того как услышал легкое подчеркивание шипящих на первых двух треках, решил проверить на материале записанном старыми добрыми Шведами и не ошибся в своих догадках - нет там такого подчеркивания, у меня крепнет убеждение, что треки записанные америкосами, особенно мужские голоса рок исполнителей имеют склонность к сибилявости, а может вокалисты такие, х.з., но тот же Лабри америкос, но на записи в Швеции поет чисто и нигде нет и намека на сибилянты.
В сравнение со сликами – мираклы лучше практически во всех аспектах, моя радость от приобретения кастомных сликов сегодня поуменьшилась, я не скажу, что мне теперь слики не милы, я с удовольствием буду их слушать, но но..
Это такая более сосредоточенная версия мираклов, но которая потеряла часть достоинств. Нет такого офигеннейшего баса, сцена уже и не такая правильная (не совпадает с моими ожиданиями от трека, скажем так). Зато серединка прям аж вагон вкусняков.
SOAD - Chop Suey!.В первом треке именно хороша серединка, звонкая, хрустящая и драйвовая, ноги сами пускаются в пляс. В остальном все тоже неплохо, но баса менье, скученное звучание, попроще звучат в целом, попроще, на уровне сликов, но сцена пошире. Есть минимальный акцент на вокале.
Nickelback - Bottoms Up. Второй трек уже не так вштыривает как на мираклах, ну да, панч есть, но немного не то. В остальном все что и у старшего брата, но попроще и как то менее интересно.
Diablo Swing Orchestra A Tapdancer's Dilemma. На третьем треке мне уже менее интересно стало, тут все тоже самое практических, что и в мираклах, но сцена не та, бас не тот, нет такой реалистичности, в целом все очень хорошо, но мозг и уши знают, что может быть лучше))
Мой вердикт – слики я себе в любом случае оставлю, очень достойные наушники, но теперь я знаю, что есть вариант, который звучит определенно более привлекательно для меня.
Будем откладывать в копилку на Miracle.
Mage – для продвинутых любителей тех же сликов или мотиков, в них есть интересные вещи, драйвовая середина, собранность, разрешение и т.п.
Конечно все вышенаписанное - это мое субъективное мнение, и много будет зависеть от того, как сядут семплы или кастомы.
The UM Miracle V2 features a 6 BA or balanced armature configuration: two high, two mid and two for low frequencies. These BAs are combined with a 3-way passive crossover configuration with a frequency range of 18 Hz to 19 kHz, a sensitivity of 114dB SPL and an impedance of 15.9 ohms. With a neutral and natural sound characteristic, the Miracle V2 is great for audio professional, sound engineer, audiophiles and music lovers who want an accurate, un-colored and life-like sound signature.
Packaging and Closer Look
The Unique Melody Miracle V2 comes in a cube-like black box. Everything is black (except for the serial number sticker), even the letterings are black but have a glossy finish to separate and emphasize it from the flat black surface. You basically get a box within a box and the inner box slides out containing the Miracle V2 and its accessories.
The package includes a small carrying pouch, a cleaning cloth, a cleaning tool, 3.5mm to 6.35mm adapter, flight adapter, 3 pairs of silicone tips (S, M, L) and 3 pairs of foam tips (S, M, L).

Out of the box, the Miracle V2 was pre-fitted with the off-white foam tips. I am not quite sure if UM recommends the use of foam tips, but I noticed that several IEMs nowadays are pre-fitted with foam tips (or comply tips) instead of silicone. Will it make any difference when it comes to sound quality, other than comfort? Yes it does, at least based on my experience. If you have read my Campfire Lyra review before, I preferred to use the Comply Tx-400 tips with the Lyra as the fit and seal is better and it tones down or smoothens the spikes in the treble section thanks to the filter inside the Tx-400.

Unique Melody Miracle V2 Review: Conclusion
In terms of build quality, Unique Melody will not disappoint you. The Miracle V2 is beautifully crafted, the carbon fiber face plate looks very nice, and the recessed socket gives more protection to the 2-pin connector. Of course, if you want your own design, you can have Unique Melody to forge a custom designed in-ear monitor for you. Custom IEMs are great since they offer better fit and seal, but they tend to cost more and will take more time (starting from getting your ear impression) to finish before you can use them.
