Need for speed Underground 2 keeps crashing on windows 10 when i am trying to open it.
This issue was never even existed on both windows 8/8.1.
All the drivers are on their latest versions(Windows 10 versions) and all the updates are installed from Windows Update.
Here are the full specs: Asus G750 JW
Intel core i7 4700HQ
Nvidia Geforce 765m
Windows 10 Final (10240) 64-bit

Hello. Thank you for your reply.
I am referring to the original game Need for speed Underground 2 which was releashed in 2004 by Electronic Arts
not for an application downloaded from Windows store. I try both steps you propose but neither of them worked because they are need for speed is a program not an application. This is what appear on my screen:(speed2.exe stopped working)

Have you installed DirectX9?
If no, you will need to install it, not just for the game but for other stuff aswell(winamp, mpc-hc etc needs it too).
If yes, did you install the latest version?
Also, when you installed the game, did you choose to let it install everything? 1700MB files to be installed if I'm not to be mistaken.
Because the game works perfectly in my pc. And I also use Win10 x64.
My hardware that runs the game:
Intel Pentium G3258 @ 3.20GHz
8GB RAM(do not remember brand at the moment)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti

Which version of the game are you running? If you are running the disc version, it is using safedisc copy protection. Safedisc is not supported on Windows 10 due to a security risk in that driver which is no longer supported.Report abuse

I have the disc version of nfsu 1, nfsu2 and nfs most wanted. Nfsu2 runs smoothly, had to have it in windowed mode to show that I use Win10.
And I have not ran into any trouble when installing the game, no compatibility errors or anything :S
No error when running the game either. And my version is retail as you can see by the pictures.
And I do not have any no-cd patches running either. Though I'm not OP, but how could I get the game running without any hacks?

I guess its possible a patch removed safedisc, I'm not sure though. I just see it listed as using safedisc so I assumed that was the reason the OP could not launch the game. It's also possible another game installed the driver, although I have not seen that before. Do you have secdrv.sys on your system?

I just performed a clean installation of Win10 just to be certain that I had no files from other games, programs etc interfering with installation of nfsu2.
Nfsu2 Installation: Success, no errors, no compatibility warnings
Nfsu2 Playing: Success, no errors, no compatibility errors
secdrv.sys: Is not installed inside c:\Windows\system32\drivers
I do not have that file at all.
UAC activated: yes
Daemon-Tools: Not installed
Slysoft virtual clonedrive: Not installed
Antivirus: Eset 8 installed
Drivers for audio and graphics installed: Yes
DirectX: Forgot to install/upgrade to 9.0C
So I would say that nfsu2 works if you have the disc version.
And we might aswell take a look on this site: Windows 10 Compatibility Center, 5 of 17 voted compatible and I am fairly certain that they have retail disc version of this game. Since you can not buy this game from origin, steam, gog or uplay.

The problem on me (i managed to fix it) is that years ago i had installed nfsu2 on a windows xp desktop. I was going to format the pc so i copy the installed files (from Program Files)and saved them on a external drive. The thing is that these files from the game were working perfectly in all versions of windows (i have played the game in windows 7/8/8.1 without problem) but now the same files wouldnt want to work on my windows 10 laptop.
1 year ago i find the game in a compressed .rar file which i downloaded from the Internet, which included not the installation files but the installed ones just as the same files i already had. I extracted them and now the game is running. I dont know how this incompatibility showed up but the game is running now normaly.
Эта игра 100% работает на 10-ке. Причём именно первый Underground.
Ровно пару месяцев назад тестировал видеокарту одного ноута с 10-кой на старых играх, в том числе NFS Ungerground. Мгновенно запускается без каких-то совместимостей, прав админов и прочих костылей.
Причём это практически оригинальная версия игры. У меня валялась уже установленная больше 7 лет. Т. е. это не какой-то там новый репак или ещё что-то. А самая старая и оригинальная версия, без каких-то новых патчей для современных операционок и т. п. "улучшалок", которые запихивают в игру в наше время на всяких торрентах и в репаках.
Проблеме явно не в игре, а в том, что у тебя какая-то левая модифицированная сборка игры.
Описания ошибок конечно в винде веселые всегда))
Через ярлык в свойствах на вкладке совместимости проставь галочки, в корневом каталоге найди начальное видео-интро, если не запаковано, временно его удали. попробуй, иногда помогает со старыми играми, но, к слову, у меня 10ка и она нормально работала без костылей
Интро оказалось запакованным, а все галочки не помогли. Жаль.
Андрей Музыченко Гуру (3717) Флашет Флашетов, тогда хз, я бы просто попробовал на другом компе запустить. если запустится, значит в игре нет смысла копаться, либо винда кривая, либо чего-то не хватает, каких-то библиотек. но это надо Вангу вызывать
Игра старая не заточена под современный комп, можно попробовать
Диспетчер задач-Процессы-правая кнопка мыши по ярлыку игры и поставить только 1 ядро.
Ещё многие старые игры не рассчитаны на большой объём оперативной памяти, значит нужно удалять руками плашки памяти если их много у вас.
Компьютер>Свойства>Дополнительные параметры системы>Параметры быстродействия>Предотвращение выполнения данных. Поставить параметр: "Включить DEP для всех программ и служб, кроме выбранных ниже", потом нажать добавить, найти игру, нажать на нее и нажать открыть, применить и ок. У меня игра тут же заработала.
Важно: если будет черный экран при запуске, нажми Enter

Не волнуйся, через пару месяцев ежедневной игры она тебе надоест, так-же как и мне
Скачал NFSU2, без второго диска запускаться не хочет, качал разные кряки, ни один не помог. Скачал игру с другого сайта. та же проблема, причему первый underground идет идеально и без вылетов. Как фиксить?
Там бывает в другом проблема, репак качаешь, обычный, а он диск 2 требует, чаще всего просто антивир кряк удалил.
Егор Забродин Оракул (65396) Да, там вроде тоже пишут про 2й диск, но в коментах вроде есть инструкция по запуску, но у меня итак без проблем работает

As per the issue description Need For Speed Underground was working fine in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 but it is not working after upgrading to Windows 10. The issue could be if the game is not compatible or display drivers need to be updated.
I would suggest you to run the application in compatibility mode as well as in administrator mode and then see if issue persists. You may refer to the links provided below to run the game in compatibility mode.
Note: These articles are for Windows 8/8.1 but steps holds good for Windows 10 too.
The issue could also be related to the Display drivers and other updates . I want to inform you that updates will be released by Microsoft. So, I would suggest you to keep checking your Windows updates not only important one but optional too. If any available try to install them and see if it helps you to fix the issue.
First try to install all of the Windows updates available and if issue persists, try to update the Display drivers by following the steps provided in the article mentioned below.
If issue still persists, then install the drivers for Windows 8/8.1 from the manufacturer's website in compatibility mode and check if that works.
