В чем разница между hymn и anthem

Обновлено: 02.07.2024

Anthem is also used for dance records which are floor fillers - in other words one which everybody gets up to dance to.

for me hymn is song with a religious context.

I though a floor filler would be a "hit".
Thank you very much for your answer

It is, but hit now sounds a bit old fashioned. The top 20 have been called hits for over forty years.

Well, I am from Spain and last time I was in England was 15 years ago. Probably that explains why my English is behind schedule
Thanks again

Don't get me wrong, hits is still used but I think its pedigree has become a bit rusty.

Whilst walking the dog this morning I was thinking more about it more anthems. They are both floor fillers and something you can sing along to. I ask myself whether torchsong is a modern synonym for anthem too. I do love how this site gets you to question your use of language whether it or not it is your mother tongue.
