Me and a friend picked this up on gamepass. Due to gamepass issues we cant play together tonight. His download speed wont allow for such shenanigans. So we want to pick it up on steam and transfer our saves.
I know this is possible, I do it all the time with gamepass games. I found where gamepass stores it's save files but I cant for the life of me find where the steam version does. I've checked "My Games" "App Data" and the steam folder for the game itself.
App data does have a folder with some "saves" in it, but I deleted them out of curiosity and the test character I made was still there upon relaunching the game as well as the files I deleted having been re-created. So that's not where individual character are stored.
Edit: Just tried deleting those profiles again and this time the character deleted. So. looks like I found my answer. Gonna try renaming the files.
Edit Edit: Renaming the windows file to the same was what was is app data worked.

My game has also crashed twice with blue screen. Once after 5 hours once after 10. From the menu, saves were wiped.
Also, tried going to back up save and switching it to main save and it's no use here unfortunately.

Как сохранить игру в The Ascent – метод быстро сохраниться
Не исключено, что в будущих патчах девелоперы внесут необходимые правки. Дело в высоком уровне критики, не позволяющей и дальше следовать выбранной политике. Лучше упростить геймплей с учётом современных жанровых стандартов.
Альтернатива сохранения очень своеобразная, она заключается в гибели. Если погибнете, возродитесь в аналогичном месте. Порой это удобно использовать со своим хитрым умыслом.
