Since the original mod author is MIA and nobody bothers reading the comments before whining that it does not work, I'm uploading an updated version, fixed version of a mod I consider essential.

Instructions:
As before, you need a tailor to change crew uniforms. To set uniforms for select crew members, ask them to follow you and then set uniforms through tailor as before, only in this case only the following crew members change appearance.
If you want to change uniforms crew wide, just dismiss all followers.

Limitations:

  • NPCs will only use weapons from their primary hand.
  • 2 handed weapons have a higher selection preference than a 1h/shield combo.
  • NPCs do not switch between 2h weapons and 1h weapons.
  • NPCs will prioritize using a gun until they either run out of energy or 5-10 seconds has gone by. It will then go into melee for a time until they gain their energy back.
  • Shields will be used only if its found on the secondary slot

I rarely find the time to actually finish a mod and publish, so I'm glad I was able to do this. Enjoy!

Definition and Instructions:

In vanilla game, as most of you know, Tailors would make a reference of your outfit and apply that outfit to all crew members while dyeing the outfit to predefined colors.

So, with "Crew Customization" Mod, the behavior for Tailor crew members have been changed. If you have a follower, the Tailor only applies the outfit you wear to the followers. If you have no followers, then the Tailors own outfit is changed. And this is done without the auto-dye process. So any dyes or changes on your character is directly applied to the crew members.

Also I might add, "head" and "headCosmetic" slots have been added as uniform. Unfortunately, this also means that any head equipment an NPC has prior to becoming a crew member is gone when they change to crew status.

To revert to default uniforms, simply chat with the Tailor again.

Please make sure you revert all crew members to default uniforms before uninstalling the mod. Note: I've seen the reports for uninstallation issues. I'll look into it as soon as I am able to.

This mod is not compatible with any mod does anything with crews and also "player.config" file

Note: I also have plans for customizing the primary and alt weapons for crew members. However it's risky and may take some time.

Update: Updated to Starbound v1.1.

Update: Updated to Starbound v1.1.1 - Switched to .patch technique, so should require less update I guess.

Uninstallation

Mod Pack Permissions: Anyone can use this mod in their mod compilation without the author's consent. Mod Assets Permissions: Anyone can alter/redistribute the mod's assets without the author's consent.

GUI explanation:

  • Has a list of crew members that can be edited (left).
  • Currently selected crew member data. (right)
  • Crew member portrait. (Displays changes)
  • Name text-box, displays the name and allows changing the name. (top-middle)
  • Toggle copy mode. ("lock" looking button at top-middle)
  • Item slots:
    • Clicking on a slot sets that item to the item held in mouse. (empty counts as an item)
    • Right-clicking resets the slot to the item the crew member had when first selected from the list.
    • While on copy-mode, clicking with an empty hand will give a non-sellable copy of the item.
    • Displays current health/max, regen.
    • Displays current energy/max, regen.
    • Toggled:
    • Displays current non-zero elemental resitance values.
    • Displays current status immunities.

    Changelog:

    • Added GUI.
    • Rewrote code to be compatible with other mods. (no longer replaces files)
    • Fixed "secondary" items not working.
    • Added quickbar mini support.
    • Tried balancing crewmember damage scaling, now gets bonus from your armor again.

    Fully customize inidivual armor, items and uniform worn by your crew.

    Now a rewrite of Crew Customization Updated to have an interface, allow full customization of gear, change name and apply augments to crew members.

    • Frakin Universe. (May allow npcs to use staffs)

    • Items are changed in real-time. (Even when out of the ship)
    • Name and augments are applied on respawn. (or after some time)
    • "Armor" slots now apply their inserted augments to the crew member. (disabled while on ship) (be careful, not all augments will work)

    • 1. Get a "Crew Customization +" interface item.
    • 2. Found at the "Infinity Express" or by talking to a tailor. (or use quickbar mini).
    • 3. Open the interface and edit your crew members.
