Почему deltarune называется survey program

Обновлено: 05.07.2024

Deltarune serves as a follow-up to Toby Fox's succesful game Undertale. While Deltarune showcases a return of many characters from Undertale, as well as a similar gameplay, the game is set in a different continuity.

Differences from Undertale [ ]

  • Unlike Undertale, Deltarune allows keeping 3 save files at the same time, and does not offer a RESET option. However, save files can be erased through the game itself.
  • There is now the possibility to run by pressing X, or enabling Auto-Run in the game's settings.
  • Enemies appear in the overworld as obstacles as opposed to encounters being randomized.
  • It is not possible to flee from battle.
  • The in-game menu is much more complex, with game settings, detailed stats/equipping, and different types of items.

Questions [ ]

These questions are meant to give the vessel a personality:

  1. Sweet
  2. Soft
  3. Sour
  4. Salty
  5. Pain
  6. Cold
  1. A
  2. AB
  3. B
  4. C
  5. D
  1. Red
  2. Blue
  3. Green
  4. Cyan
  1. Kindness
  2. Mind
  3. Ambition
  4. Bravery
  5. Voice
  1. Love
  2. Hope
  3. Disgust
  4. Fear

At the end of the questionnaire, the player is asked if they answered honestly, then asked if they have acknowledged the possibility of pain and seizure. The player names the vessel and then enters their own name.

After this, the vessel is discarded as the screen goes black and the game states "No one can choose who they are in this world. Your name is. ". The game then finally starts with Toriel yelling "KRIS!" with the player controlling said character.

In Chapter 2, the creator's name is used in the name of Castle Town. When starting a Chapter 2 save file without continuing from Chapter 1 completion data, the player is prompted to enter their own name (so that it can be used in the town's name), but is not given the opportunity to enter any information about a vessel. In the game data, the vessel defaults to the first option of each question, except for its gift, which defaults to Mind.

Почему deltarune называется survey program

I've looked throughout the game files, and unlike the SURVEY_PROGRAM.exe file from 2018, I simply cannot locate the save-files.
I'm seeking to modify a custom save-slot, to just see what wild & wacky stuff I can do.

Is anybody aware wherever it is the Deltarune 1 & 2 DEMO saves are? Please, it'd be super duper of you to share.

Synopsis [ ]

Chapter 1 [ ]

The game starts with the player inhabiting a vessel who they cannot choose: Kris. They are a quiet human teenager who lives with their mother Toriel and goes to the local school in Hometown. A tall reptilian student Susie threatens to eat their face. They're forced to team up and go to the school supply closet.

The duo inadvertently discover the Dark World inside. There they meet Ralsei, a kind hearted goat-prince, who reveals that the three of them are the heroes of the Prophecy, destined to restore balance to light and dark. During their adventure, they meet Lancer, a goofy bad guy. Susie leaves Kris and Ralsei for a time and teams up with Lancer. Susie's friendship with Lancer helps her become more compassionate and less cruel. The whole cast ends up uniting into a single team of four. In the end, Lancer helps the trio overthrow Lancer's cruel father, King. Afterward, Kris and Susie say their goodbyes to the Dark World, and, using the power of Kris's human SOUL, they seal the Eastern Fountain.

Kris and Susie return to their world together, appearing in a room filled with toys and board games, representing the Dark World and the characters they met. Kris and Susie agree to return to the Dark World the next day. Kris can leave the school and explore Hometown. We learn that Asriel is Kris's big brother who is out of town in college. Kris misses him.

Kris goes to sleep after exploring the town. In the middle of the night, Kris shambles out of bed, seemingly fighting just to walk. Kris rips out their SOUL and throws it into a birdcage where it is trapped. A knife materializes in Kris's hands and looks at the camera with a menacing smile. Then, the screen goes 100% completely black for a few moments and then the credits play.

Chapter 2 [ ]

The second chapter, named A Cyber's World, begins with Toriel talking to Kris. She questions why Kris is carrying a knife, then acts shocked. However, it is soon revealed that she was just trying to stop Kris from eating the entire pie she had baked the day before.

Later, Kris goes to school and enters the Dark World again with Susie. They meet Ralsei and explore the Castle Town, which has been significantly improved by the addition of NPCs from Chapter 1. Eventually, Susie mentions they have homework to do, prompting Ralsei to banish them from the Dark World until their homework is done.

They go to the Library, however they find another Dark World, the Cyber World, awaiting them, and fall into it, this time with Noelle and Berdly. They hear talk about a Queen, who they soon meet and who acts as the main antagonist for this chapter. She captures Noelle, while Berdly switches to her side voluntarily. Eventually, Kris splits up with the other party members and rescues Noelle. In Kris's company, Noelle starts to learn to be less fearful, accentuating one of the game's themes of personal development. Later, after the entire party gets thrown into the Queen's dungeon, Berdly learns to be less arrogant after failing to solve multiple puzzles. The final boss fight begins with both parties turning into mechas, and then combat proceeds in the style of a Punch-Out!!-esque fighting game. Kris seals the Dark Fountain of this world, and the Lightners all return to the Light World.

After walking through town, Kris goes home and Toriel invites Susie to spend the night at her house. She sends the pair to wash their hands. When Kris goes to the bathroom, they rip out their SOUL again and escape through the window. After a chat between Toriel and Susie, Kris returns to the bathroom and puts their SOUL back.

Susie and Kris fall asleep watching TV when Toriel calls the police to inform them that she saw something outside the house and found her car tires slashed. After that, Toriel also falls asleep in the living room. Then, in the middle of the night, Kris wakes up, and with their knife creates a Dark Fountain that envelops the entire room in black mist. The last thing that can be seen is the static television screen and a ghoulish smile on it. Then, the screen goes 100% completely black for a few moments and then the credits play.

Deltarune may actually be a survey program

Actually the fine folks over at r/Underminers discovered that it has nothing to do with Deltarune but with Game Maker Studio 2, the engine its made in.

I thought it might do something like that. Cool!

For my second SAVE file I put my character’s favorite food as “Pain” and named it Kris, hope that doesn’t screw anything up

i dont trust deltarune

i dont trust jevil

What a moustachely discovery you have there.

Introduction

The introduction plays once until the game is saved for the first time. It can only be replayed on a new save file.

Development [ ]

Temmie Chang, who previously worked on Undertale, also worked on Deltarune's first chapter, contributing more graphics than she had for Undertale. She is credited as "Main Artist, Animator, & Cleanup" on Background, Overworld, Battle, Sepia and Menu Art.

Fox found Laura Shigihara, who sang and arranged the ending ballad Don't Forget, through Kan Gao's To the Moon.

Players were asked to refrain from discussing what was in the game, or even what it was, for twenty-four hours after the release. On November 1st, 2018, Fox made the chapter's soundtrack available on Bandcamp.

However, on September 15th, 2021 during a YouTube livestream celebrating Undertale's 6th Anniversary it was announced that Chapter 2 of Deltarune would release on September 17th, 2021 for PC and Mac.
