Luminous
Luminous calls this boy "Little Devil" and, in return, he calls Luminous "Brother". Despite no indication he is his brother, nor liked, Ming·Z does so anyway.
Ming·Z tends to stop time or transfer Luminous to a dreamland to talk. However, much to the latter's annoyance, he does so to make attempts at steering the other's behavior. Often, he suggests that Luminous accept dealings that involve himself gaining a quarter of Luminous' soul for a service. That, or give out free gifts as a preview of his capabilities in frustration at constant refusal.
Zero (Renata)
As Z, he befriends both Renata and (Player) at Black Swan Bay's orphanage. At some point, the two make an oath. After Renata dies during the attack, he recovers her body and presumably revives her.
Ming·Z·Lu
The boy has a pair of light golden eyes and looks about 13 to 14 years old, handsome and elegant. He always wears a black suit with a white silk scarf and a pair of white square toe leather shoes.

Lu Mingze
Lu Mingze (路鸣泽) is a mysterious demon-like entity that communicates with Lu Mingfei, whom he calls "brother". He is also known as 'The Devil in room Zero' or simply Zero. In the game adaptation, his names are Ming·Z·Lu and Z.
Little is known about his true origins, he claims to have lived for thousands of years. His current story begins in Black Swan Bay, where he was located by a young Renata, a fellow orphan. Since Herzog kept him locked in "Room zero", he adopted "Zero" as his name. He became friends with Renata and they attempted to escape the facility together, making an oath to stay by each other's side.
After the presence of a spy was discovered, Herzog decided to evacuate with Bondarev while the whole bay was bombed in order to preserve secrecy. The experiments that Herzog made on Number Zero's body made him incapable of moving by his own will and he was too weak to dodge the bombs. In order to keep their oath, Renata sacrificed herself to save him. Seeing his friend die because of him, Number Zero brought her back to life and promised that he would never abandon her.
They left to locate her parents in Moscow. Learning that they sold her to Herzog when she was three years old, he killed them and made a new deal with Renata. Based on his own nickname, he changed her name to "Zero".
They attempted to reach China by foot, but they were ambushed by the Secret party. He fought and killed many of their top agents, until they led him into a trap: a user of the Rhine Yanling. Protecting Zero from the blast, he was captured and impaled with the Gungir lance by Lu Lincheng, then he was submerged in mercury and hidden from the world.
Using his Dreamland Skill, he managed to communicate with the outside through visions, and with the help of Zero, they started a multi-national organization, working in the shadows.
In 2009, he contacted his "brother" Lu Mingfei, and started manipulating him with the sole purpose of gaining control of his body and life. Now calling himself 'Lu Mingze' (The name of Mingfei's cousin) he orchestrated a series of events that resulted in the defeats of Norton, Fenrir and Izanami. Mingze made a deal with him where he gets to own one quarter of Mingfei's life for each dragon that he helps him to kill (or any other favor).
During the return of the White King, he fused with Mingfei and gained his original form back (although, temporarily). He finally acquired the last quarter of Mingfei's life in exchange for defeating Odin, but he had to give it back after failing to win the fight. Slowly gaining a more sympathetic attitude towards Mingfei, his body was finally located by his brother while he attempted to learn more about his own origins.

Lu Mingze appears to be 13 or 14 years old, with dark hair and a cute face. Zero once described Lu Mingfei as "looking almost identical to Number Zero".

Biography
Background
Very little is known about Lu Mingze's origins, he once mentioned that he has known Lu Mingfei for thousands of years.
In the 20th century, he was a test subject in the Black Swan Bay facility that was kept on isolation. He had an entire room dedicated to experimenting on him, which was labeled "Room Zero". The nurses would tell scary stories about the room to the other orphans and threaten them with the possibility of being locked with the "devil" that lived inside as punishment if they misbehaved.
The boy would rather mention that he used to cry in the past but he stopped at some point, when Herzog performed brain surgery on him in order to control him, he divided his personality in two. These conversations were usually spoken in a loud voice and could be heard from the outside, one voice was benevolent, while the other one was violent. He also started to make use of his Yanling skill, the dreamland. It allowed him to create convincing visions and explore the world around him while his physical body stayed in the room. He would share this with his pet dragon snake and soon, a fellow orphan named Renata started experiencing these visions too, using them to wander around the orphanage at night and read forbidden books.
Meeting Renata
Renata finds the devil in room zero.
In 1990, he was found by Renata while she looked for the snake. When she asked to know his name, he told her to call him "Zero", since the sign on the door was the closest thing he had to a name. When he asked to be Renata's friend and she accepted, he demanded to share their secrets. She revealed that she used to wet her bed and in return, Zero spoke about the voices in his head.
He proceeded to ask Renata to free him from his bondage so he could help her avoid punishment from the nurses, since she wasn't supposed to leave her room. Renata was suspicious of him, so she refused, but Zero manipulated the girl with his golden eyes. As soon as Renata unbuckled the straps that held him to his bed, he immediately assaulted her, ripping off her clothes and trying to bite her face. A group of nurses entered the room and separated the two, according to Zero, this was his method of deviating their attention from Renata to himself.
That night, Renata was visited by Zero and his pet, the black snake. Initially fearful of him, he convinced her to join him in a vision and run around the orphanage. The pair climbed to the top of the church. Zero regularly chanted verses from the Bible book of Revelations concerning the end of the world. He demanded to exchange gifts with Renata, she gave him dried flowers and he promised to get her out of the orphanage in return. They made a vow to stay together till the end.
Escape
Zero takes Renata away from the dance.
Zero gave Renata detailed instructions on how to prepare for their escape, including securing weapons and a sled. On the night of the Christmas dance, Herzog locked all of the children, guards and medical personnel in the annual dance and drugged them while he burned the installations in preparation for his escape. Zero showed up at the dance to rescue Renata from the crazed drugged orphans, danced with her under the Christmas tree and vanished. When she escaped and found the orphanage in ruins, she discovered that Zero was immobilized by the brain surgery and had to drag him away. The black snake produced a hiss that destroyed a wall and it allowed them to escape. Renata hid herself with Zero and the sled dogs under an ice sheet, but the location devices on the collar of the dogs gave them away. A fighter jet bombed them and the blast fatally wounded Renata.

After he managed to get back on his feet, he called for the corpse of his black snake, which had been buried under the ice for many years and was now being retrieved by Bondarev . The apparently dead dragon got back on its feet and flew up in the air, taking the fighter jets with ease. Zero managed to get up as well and wings grew up from his back, he flew up and destroyed the rest of the jets.
He was surprised to see that Renata chose to die next to him rather than running away and she recited their oath. Feeling guilty, Zero baptized her in the arctic waters, kissed her in the lips and healed her wounds. She molted her damaged skin like a snake in the following days and they set course to Moscow in search of her parents.
Zero and Zero
In 1991, during the fall of the soviet union, Zero met Renata's parents, who feared their own daughter and were excited to sell her again to him. Angry at them for this, he killed them both with a sword. He spent tome in the streets, earning money and making plans. He took care of Renata and bought her beautiful clothes.
He was interested in going to China and he tried to convince Renata of coming with him, he realized that Bondarev's family could be after them, so he decided to travel by foot. Renata used her own Yanling (which allowed her to replicate the abilities of other hybrids) to figure out that he had killed her parents. Zero didn't like to see her cry and made a new contract with her, declaring her to be "his thing" and changing her name to "Zero" in order to match his own. Renata accepted to stay with him and they departed to China.

When they reached the Chinese border, they were ambushed by agents of the secret party. Zero defended himself from them and killed many of their top dragon slayers. Seeing themselves out of options, they sent a user of Rhine, a Yanling skill with a destructive power similar to that of a nuke and Zero opted to protect Renata rather than running away. The pair managed to survive, but Zero was weakened, allowing one of the dragon slayers (Lu Lincheng) to pierce him with the Gungir lance. Zero was captured and taken to an undisclosed location, where he was tied to a cross and surrounded by mercury, which is toxic to dragons. Zero had to use his vision ability in order to be able to wander around the world.
At some point, he met with Renata again and with her help, they built a complex underworld organization. Intending to gain his physical form back and reunite with Renata, he devised a plan to take control of Lu Mingfei's body and soul by exchanging the right to one quarter of his life for any given favor.
