Body armours and Two-handed weapons can have up to 6 links. The minimum item level for crafting 6 links is 50.

The number of possible sockets on equipment is based on the item level as well as the type of the equipment being used.
- Jeweller's Orb re-rolls the number of sockets on an item. The Minimum Level of four sockets is 25. The chance of getting four sockets is about 9.80%. The item's quality increases the chances of obtaining more sockets.
- Orb of Fusing reforges the links between sockets on an item. The chance of obtaining 4 links is about 20%. The item's quality increases the chances of obtaining more links.
2. Maximum number of sockets by equipment type
- Most Belts, amulets, rings and quivers do not have sockets. Exceptions are Unset Ring, Black Maw Talisman, Stygian Vise, and Ornate Quiver.
- One-handed weapons and shields can only have up to 3 sockets max
- Boots, helmets and gloves can have up to 4 sockets
- Body armours and Two-handed weapons can have up to 6 sockets

1. Six Link Crafting Guide
1.1 Tabula Rasa
Tabula Rasa has 6 linked white sockets, but provides no defence values. The white socket can accept gems of any color, so you can easily link up to five support gems together, because you don't have to worry about finding the right color on the socket to match the supports you want to use. This can be useful when upgrading new characters through the early stage.

Use Crafting Bench recipes in your hideout to get a six links item.
6 Link recipe location: Primeval Chamber in the Azurite Mine. The minimum depth for Primeval Ruins to spawn is 151 or beyond. In order to unlock this crafting recipe, you need to mine much deeper and find Primeval Ruins and enter Primeval Chamber.
The cost of this crafting recipe is 1,500 Orb of Fusing.
1.2.1 Abyssal Chamber
Abyssal Chamber is in the Abyssal City.
1.2.2 Primeval Chamber
Primeval Chamber is in the Primeval Ruins.
Orb of Fusing reforges the links between sockets on an item randomly. 6 link chance is about 1500 Orbs of Fusing.
The item's quality increases the chances of obtaining more links. Blacksmith's Whetstone improves the quality of a weapon and Armourer's Scrap improves the quality of an armour. If an item has some quality, each 1% quality improves the result by 1%. While the chance of obtaining three or four linked sockets is relatively high, the chance of obtaining five or six linked sockets is very low, and on average requires hundreds or even thousands of attempts.
A test involving 100 000 Orb of Fusings concluded that 836 to 1244 (average 1000) Orb of Fusings are needed to six-link a six-socketed, 20% qualitied item with a 95% confidence interval. This translates into a
77% chance to six-link within 1500 Orbs of Fusing.
This means it is statistically not worthwhile to use the Crafting Bench recipe instead of using Orbs of Fusing manually, but it is still an option to consider for risk-averse players to avoid randomness.
1.4 Harvest Crafting
Players can explore maps to find entrances to the The Sacred Grove which offer pre-created Horticrafting gardens. Slaying the monsters will generate Horticrafting mods. These mods can be captured and stored in the Horticrafting Station which can be used from a player's hideout. A maximum of 10 mods can be stored, and mods can be freely added, removed or used at any time.
1.5 Tirn's End Atlas Passives: Exotic Goods
Farming more Invasion Bosses in Tirn's End region, it will drop more valuable Item. Of course, six-linked items are valuable Items.
1.6 Heist All Sockets Linked Items

The four chosen beasts are released into the arena surrounding the blood altar and must be killed to complete the recipe. If the player dies during the attempt, the recipe fails and the beasts are lost.
