It will never add this. Why?
1. This would make online co-op not be played anymore, which was a completely hard thing to code.
2. There aren't enough keys on your keyboard to make that, and i don't think you would pay more money on a controller to be able to play with ur friends as well
3. You buy this game for 1 person (you). Letting more people play on the same account would reduce the devs money by 50% (which is very huge for their profit)
4. It will not be enough space to any of you to see, which will make combat much harder (and you must fight in order to finish the game
5. They don't know how to code this (the split screen is pretty much a 2010 thing and it's something nobody knows how to code anymore)
6. You posted this on Co-op discussions and the devs created this sub-forum just to let people recruit for their server, so. you posted this for no reason
7. It's a hard thing to code and most of us rather play on multiplayer than playing with a scrub friend, but still and interesting thing
Can this game play co op in split screen?
Hey there, my gf and i are looking forward to this game but we are wonder if the co-op allow us to play the forest with split screen so we can play it on 2 different monitors. Thank you in advance!

I feel like steam should incorporate a free split screen program that allows you to run dual instances of a game and seamlessly have it run on multiple monitors or in any split orientation you want.

Loving the game, and my son always watches because he's interested in the surviving/bush crafting aspects. We always talk about how fun if we could work together building a base and surviving together against the cannibals. But i only have 1 computer so we're unable to do the online co op.
Do you think it would ever be possible or outside the realm of possibility to have a offline 2 player co op feature story campaign with 2 xbox 360 controllers, or just a 2 player split screen free mode without story? Or possibly the ability for a second player to take control of the son character after he's rescued from the caves, and then they must survive together against the cannibals until they are rescued. or just have another random survivor from the airplane, It's doesn't matter who the second player is really.

And you could just hook your PC up to a TV screen for a bigger view like I do.

While it's true that several games have split screen on PC, I don't think it works on this genre, mostly because of how impoartant it is to keep an eye on your envierment.
And hook it up to the TV? Not everyone has that option, so I don't think that is something to rely on when developing a game. Sorta like how there are games that "suggest a controller for a better gaming experience", not really a good idea on PC :/.
These are only my viewpoints though.

Honestly if you don’t have the option of hooking it up to a TV and don’t like the small screen, then don’t use it.
