I am running Windows 7 32-bit on my mid 2011 MacBook Pro (Sierra) and trying to play GTA3. I get this message:

When you are running your Windows 7 via BootCamp you do need to do things for Windows like Run As Administrator, set compatibility modes. etc, just like you would if you were running Windows 7 on a Dell or whatever other brand of laptop.

For GTA 3 set the Run as Administrator and the compatibility as Windows 98/ME.

You can also try turning off DEP:

Trying to find a solution on it here and online but I can't find one for this problem. I'm on Windows 7 with normal specs. Changing the compability with windows xp (service pack 2) doesn't work for me. Why they sell a game that doesn't work, even when its old?

Can somebody help me with this?

Hmmm works fine with me.
Done all the standard stuff?
Verify install
Re-install game
Verify DirectX
Verify video card drivers are latest
Change Rez or colour depth on display

Nothing of all.. but anyway got it fixed..

For people with the same problem I removed the Logmein mirror driver, maybe it works too for you.

Because I don't use LogMeIn anymore and already deinstalled it, it was safe for me to delete the mirror drive. Don't ask me why it worked, I have no idea. 21 янв. 2015 в 9:58

This is the fix i used and it worked for me and i also have a 4GB video card and I'm running 64-bit windows 7.

If you're still having issues getting GTA VC or GTA 3 to work HERE IS THE FIX YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!! This fix works on both GTA VC and GTA 3, First change your data execution prevention settings by going to control panel, system and security, then click advanced system settings. Once that window opens click on the advanced tab. Under that you'll see performace with a button to change the settings. Open that and click the tab for Data Execution Prevention, Select turn on DEP for all programs and services except those i select and add GTA3 to the list by clicking add and browsing to the installed directory and selecting the GTA3.exe and also GTA VC if you're having the same issue with it as well and then hit apply. Lastly click on your start button and search for regedit and run that, once that opens change value to EmulationOnly=0 instead of =1 under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\DirectDraw. It will enable directdraw for 32bit when i couldnt change the option through dxdiag even though it directdraw showed it was enabled under my 64bit settings in dxdiag. Hope this helps! Also set your compatibility settings to windows 98/Windows ME and check the box to run as admin hit apply, lastly launch the game and enjoy.

The only fix I found this far is playing it on an older computer. I think it either can't handle the gargantuan amount of 4GB of VRAM or the awesomeness that is 64-bit.
