anyone know where these things drop? i saw some guy on youtube showing his ICE runeword bow, and he said it was a grey grand matron bow with the proper number of sockets for ICE runeword, and showed it came with +3 amazon skills.

i have never seen such a thing, is it super rare or easy to find when you know where to look?

I have one, would probably have more if I remembered to keep a closer eye out for them. Like most white/socketed items, I kill a lot of cows with a 0 MF character and scan all that white text.

they are rather rare to begin with add in the chances for sockets and +3 skills and they are VERY rare, I found a superior 6os one with 3 skills about a year ago, would make a cool Botd!

does it have to be white? can one with +3 skills drop grey? i am confused by white vs grey. doesn't white mean it has no sockets, and you must use larzuk to add sockets to it?

When a zon-bow drops, it rolls automods, and +3 is fairly rare (some other members could give more info on the chance to get +3). Then, it is either white (no sockets) or it has sockets, and 4 sockets is pretty rare, too.

I have one +3 matriarchal bow, and it has no sockets, so I might get 4 if I cube socket it. Larzuk will give it 5 sockets, so if I want 4, I have to use the cube to get random sockets (up to 5, and there's a 1/6 chance for 4) and hope for 4 sockets.

But, yes, white named items have no sockets. Larzuk will give the item the maximum sockets it can get. The cube gives it a random number of sockets.

Specifically, using the Atma v drop calculator, you need to be killing monsters in Hell of level 78 or over with 0 mf, the odds dropping from 1/183101 (horror archers in the Palace) to 1/17118 (Hell cows) with minions, champions and uniques having of course a higher drop rate.

I don't play bowzons but last ladder I stashed 5 +3 4 socket mat bows and just one +3 4 socket gmb. This ladder I've started with 2 +3 4os gmbs, one dropped by a balrog champion in questing through the River of Flame and one white +3 cubed to 4 sockets dropped in act five.

Самые опасные враги для этой амки:

Несколько чемпионов Blood Lord (физ. иммуны), могут вполне добраться до этой амы, нужно держаться от них подальше и пропускать вперед мерка. В большом количестве Stygian Fury могут закидать красными звездами, сами они физ. иммуны поэтому Life Stolen Per Hit с них не идет и быстро расходуется манна. Bone Fetish (особенно чемпионы или уники), при близком убийстве могут взрывом снести все здоровье.

Finding Grand Matron Bow

Been looking for one of these. I have been following baal run bot games & doing pit runs looking for them (averaging about 4 players in game each run). About 100 runs and only 1 dropped and it was 5 socket (I need 4). I would like to find white ones & use the socket recipe until I get 4 sockets. (or better yet, just find one with 4 sockets)

What is the best place to hunt for 1 (TC 78 I beleive). I have an awesome level 92 straffer with only about 80% mf. She can clear pits in 8 player ladder games and can do mephisto runs but they are obviously slow as I have to kill everything on the way. Baal runs are out of the question for her as I don't have a wisp ring and lose a breakpoint if I wear thundergods vigor therefore souls will smoke me. I do not have a cow runner either. I also have a level 90 hammerdin which I could drop his MF from 450% down to around 137%. He can do pretty much everything but must use a stealspell to teleport for diablo runs.

So. what would be the best strategy to find these bows?

According to ATMA,the best chances are at the Flyer Dungeon levels 1,2,3;Arreat Plateau.Then the chances drop a little bit and the secret cow level is next.
But these are only chances.I found 2 GMBs recently-one at Shank and one in the cow level.
Keep in mind that the socket recipe has the highest chance for making the item with max soskets which would be 5. According to ATMA,the best chances are at the Flyer Dungeon levels 1,2,3;Arreat Plateau.Then the chances drop a little bit and the secret cow level is next.

Thanks for the reply. I know about the socket chances. I beleive 1 out of 6 for 1 to 4 sockets and 2 out of 6 for 5 sockets. 6 whites should yield 1 four socket statistically.

I think flayer dungeon may be tough to get to. Typically those baal bot runs take from 3-5 minutes. I probably would just be getting to the dungeon with my straffer by the time the entire party leaves. Look out arreat plateau, here I come.

I hope I helped a bit.Remember that it is all about luck.GMBs are pretty rare so it may take a while to get one.But if you do runs in games with more players then your chances are much higher.Let me know how Arreat Plateau running went

I found a GMB in the pits. but it was with no sockets and had +1 bow and xbow skills. can it spawn with + 3 as well? or only with +2?

I don have use for it so if anyone is interested i might trade it. Ladder Europe though.

The calculater I use--and like all calculators for item drops, I take what they say with a grain of salt--lists Death Brigadiers in Halls of Anguis and Icy Cellar as the monster with the highest chance to drop GMBs, followed by Demon Sprite in WSK, Hell Temptress in WSK, Icy Cellar, and Halls of Vaught, and Blood Lords in alot of Act 5.

EDIT: On second look, Calc actually says that all of the above monsters have the same chance to drop GMB at 0.42739171%.

I ran it a bunch of times but it is actually pretty dangerous up there in multi player games for a straffer. Wide open area's so tough to line em up and decent number of boss archers. I ran it a bunch of times but was taking a bit long & I find the pit to be much safer for my char.
I have also a WWS Strafer and Pits are really dangerous indeed. Therefore I started to run Crypt/Mausoleum as its much easier and monsters are not that much dangerous and its also much safer for my Merc, as no archers are in these areas. I found my only GMB in one of Barrels in the Mausoleum, but its Superior and with no sockets, which means it will get 5 if larzuked ((..And it has +3 to skills . What a shame (( . I have also a WWS Strafer and Pits are really dangerous indeed. Therefore I started to run Crypt/Mausoleum as its much easier and monsters are not that much dangerous and its also much safer for my Merc, as no archers are in these areas. All undead there. You can't leech from them. I can run the pits on ladder with 8 players in the game although my straffer has godly gear & I planned every stat & skill point in advance. Hundreds of runs and only 1 GMB with 5 sockets

Traded for a 4 socket last night. Very expensive. You should use the socket recipe which is ral, amn & p amethist (I beleive). You have a 1 out of 6 shot for 4 sockets. (2 out of 6 for 5 sockets / 1 out of 6 chance for 1 to 4 sockets). You are correct about larzuk. 5 sockets every time. If you get lucky and roll 4 sockets, it will be worth a fortune. I paid Ist, Pul & 10% annihilus for a +2 non superior. Worth it though, Faith got level 14 fanaticism & +2 skills. This bow definately rocks.

what makes this so sick.

1. I have 411 dex at level 75 with eq. fanaticism adds 277% ed & i can wear fortitude with 300% ed which means 988% enhanced damage. I added a +3 max damage sc and it added 32 to my character screen. added a +8 max damage and it added 86 to max damage (8 * 10.**).

2. For PvM I need around 50% ias to reach 8 frame multi. This enables me to wear tals mask w/ 15% ias for dual leech & extra mana / life, Tgods vigor for those damn souls, a dwarf star for fire absorb and the usual ravenfrost, cats eye, LOH. My damage multi is around 3200 & guided is around 4600. Life is around 930 (without a point in vitality!) and mana around 300. Through act 3 hell and everything has gone real easy. Only problem is poison resist is at 5 so that gets a little painfull.

3. for pvp mavinas socketed with ias/ed jewel, crafted knockback, ias, Mana leech, life leech gloves (hopefully), nos coil, war travs, ravenfrost, dual leech rare ring, cats eye enables 7 frame multi/guided.

4. for every +1 max damage from charms I get, it will add 11 or possibly 12 to my character screen max. With windforce and no fortitude I would only get 6 added to max damage. (with fortitude 9)

5. minimum damage physical only including war travlers is 831. minimum physical damage only including war travlers for windforce is 270 (calculated at 500 dex).

basicaly, max damage is compartable, minimum faith wins hands down. Average goes to faith/fortitude combo. A realistic WF multi using fortitude @ 9 frames would have 15 less resistance but a little more average damage. Damage over time would again go to faith 4 more attacks over 10 seconds really adds up. Wf using zon would also lose 4 to bow skills and 2 to everything else. Plus 8 frame multi with 24 arrows looks way cool.

(based the multi WF zon as a shaeled WF needing the same 50% ias for 9 frame therefore using the same fear set up as I am using for the faith bow.)

This bow shines in the open areas of acts 1 and 2, pits, flayer jungles (so far). I am sure that in chaos sanc or any of the open area's of acts 4 & 5 will be the same. Straffer WF would be better for catacombs in far oasis or other areas with doors / corridors as the monsters will line up nice for you.
