it would be better if u would explain ur proble more.

anyway till u post again in the folder My Documents\My Games\Heroes of Might and Magic V\Profiles\UR_PROFILE_NAME there is a file named "user" it has all the settings of the game.
if ur problem is 2 change the gfx settings then u could try changing them from here but ur-self, although thats not a very good idea. or @ least make a backup copy of the file b4 any changes.

sorry but i don't know how to clarify my problem.
i only get message faild to set display mode
btw i dont have user profile.
so i tried with unrealz modified profil..
but it doesn't help

do u have multiple displays? if u do then this would explain it, the game cant run on multiple displays (i found that on an older topic like 12 days ago)
This solution might be irrelevant, Run msconfig select diagnostic startup then restart & run the game

Have you tried launching the game with different desktop resolutions? I have the same video card and there seems to be a problem with the game and changing resolutions on that card. Try starting the game in either 1024x768 or 1280x1024 and see if that helps.

i have only one display.
i don't know what to do..
sooo i'm just gonna uninstall it and wait for the patch..

Tonight, I finally found the fix!

Changing memory options from 'System cache' to 'Programs' fixed it!

This was 100% positively my problem. In fact, I can toggle it back to 'System cache' and the game no longer works. The same error: 'Failed to set display mode' will appear.

I have tested this 10+ times to make sure it was my problem. I can easily duplicate the error by simply changing this setting.

If anyone else wants to test this:

1.) Right click 'My Computer'
2.) Click Properties
3.) Click on the 'Advanced' tab
4.) Click Settings button in the 'Performance' group.
5.) Click the 'Advanced' tab
6.) Look to the 'Memory usage' group, and toggle it from System to Programs.

I am curious if there are other people with a similar system setup as mine with the same problem. If you test this method and it works for you, please post a report back in this thread.

A:Надо встать героем точно на то место, где лежит Слеза Асхи и сделать переход хода (так как копать может герой только с полным запасом дневного хода, и на раскопки тратится весь ход). На следующий день нажать клавишу D или соответствующую иконку (с лопатой) на интерфейсе.

I click play, it opens, showing the loading picture (or whatever), and then a little error box flips me the bird and says your stupid game is broken. My theori is; the game isn't supported for bigger screens, since it works fine on my laptop. I've found reports that lowering the game resolution has helped players to resolve this issue. You should be able to manually change the resolution in the user.cfg file. Could you please try doing this for us?

If the issue persists after trying these steps, please don't hesitate to update us!
