Что такое c9 в овервотч

Обновлено: 17.05.2024

A term used in the game Overwatch describing the situation when a team leaves the point/payload in overtime, resulting in the other team winning by default.

The term originates from the pro team Cloud9 that accidentally stops contesting the point for several rounds vs. Afreeca Freecs Blue in season 2 Apex. This incident happened for the very first time on Lijang tower when Cloud9 won the fight in overtime but simply did not contest the point and therefore gave their opponents a free win.

A true C9 is when the point or payload is left in overtime in a winnable round. (Winnable being the keyword).

Sometimes wrongfully called "Z9".

- C9 LOL
- LUL nice c9!
- z9
- Z9!!
- NO! It's not "Z9", it's C9, and that wasn't even a f*cking C9.

A term used in the video game Overwatch, to describe when a team wins a critical fight at the end of a round, but still loses said round. This is either due to the team leaving the objective before they've fully captured it, resulting in overtime to run out, or forgetting to touch the objective at all, meaning that overtime was never triggered.

The term was coined during the 2nd Season of the Overwatch Apex tournament, when the eSports team Cloud9 repeatedly made this mistake in their match against Afreeca Freaks Blue.

Following this, "C9" was often spammed in-game and in Twitch chats by people who didn't understand what it actually meant, and the term is now often deliberately spammed in Twitch Chats at the end of each round (even when no C9 actually occurred)

What is the ACTUAL definition of a C9?

We’ve all been there. It’s overtime and you’re on offense. Your team is swarming the payload in a tough fight, mere inches from the destination.

Then, as if from the bowels of hell itself, your team gets hacked and a Dva bomb gets sent skywards. Your team, the plucky survivors they are, all scatter from the payload and you lose overtime without any of you being killed.

“C9! C9! C9!” the taunting chat reads as DEFEAT crosses your screen.

My point is: is this truly a C9? To me, this is just getting beaten by a good team attack.

A true C9, worthy of being taunted, is when your team is doing so well - that you’re smashing the enemy team so thoroughly in that moment - that you all collectively forget to play the objective in your bloodlust.

Like all pushing up to get a team kill when a Tracer that no one notices caps the point.

Or when your whole team steps off the cap to go kill the retreating mercy.

A C9 is when, fundamentally, you have the game in the bag but you leave the point to get kills instead.

"C9 LUL" Explained

What is C9 LUL? With Overwatch World Cup, some people are confused when Twitch chat decides to spam "C9 LUL" in the chat. Let me explain.

"C9 LUL" refers to a moment where a team could have won by simply staying on the point/payload but instead they forgot about the point all together thus losing the map.

"C9" is an abbreviation of the professional team "Cloud 9" and "LUL" is a popular twitch emote of TotalBiscuit laughing.

Cloud 9 was the first team to popularize this mistake during the Apex tournament in Korea. In one match against AF Blue, Cloud 9 got off the point in three instances. First on Lijiang Control Center, then on Gardens, lastly on Volskya
