I have a potentially foolish question or two:
1) Regarding the special assignment mission where you have to do enough damage to freaking Luna to chase her off, is it only doable in single player? I tried hosting it for a friend who already beat the mission and he wasn't able to join either from being in the party or via S.O.S.
2) Also is it even possible with a bow (Legia Snowfletcher of Doom Shaft is my strongest one for her) user main? XD (in before the unhelpful 'get good' messages :p Been trying that, my dudes, and still am trying but if you can't do it with a bow I may practice with a different weapon). I've tried dropping boulders on her but she's usually right on my butt and out of range of those traps at least. (Have managed to hit her with the dragonator though! Yay. Wish I could see monster's health ;o;)

I recommend making an online instance and inviting your friend to it, trying to find each other through S.O.S. will be close to impossible. Too many factors to take into account. After that you can post the quest and your friend can accept it as well. I do suggest firing the sos flare so that you will have a total of at least 3 people, otherwise MP won't be beneficial.
Lunastra can be soloed, in the quest as well. Only her special attack can be deadly, other than that it is a matter of dodging. You can also dodge her special by being far enough from her. When she was at the bottom of the arena I climbed to the top, not sure if it is a bug, but I survived the special. Health boosters help as well since you can't drink potions during the special attack. Fire mantle is definitely a must when you equip it at the right time. Temporal is a really great mantle as well.
As for weapons I can't give you advice on it since I am a dual blade user. If you don't have max tier weapons then I'd suggest sticking with dragon elemental weapons. Or the elemental weapon that you are most comfortable with.
Also try to get your fire resistance as high as possible through jewels and such. It will help a ton if you manage to dodge all normal attacks. Other than that it is a matter if getting familiar with the attack patterns aka getting good.

I don't know if that was a bug or not. Luna hates ice so the Legia absolutely wrecks her. The trick is not getting rekted first ofc.

Cool drink - always have one on for her aura, should mitigate damage some - And don't knock the veggie meal - eat for element resist up L even if you die..it's good at the start.
Rocksteady is good to have. Not just for damage, but for heals - not getting knocked around while you're healing can be a big bonus.
Up your def. Make sure it's maxed. Goes without saying.
Consider "performance enhancers" and fortify. This is only good IF you solo. because you're planning on 2 deaths. 453-513-590 something def for me. It makes a big difference, not to mention attack too. It makes soloing easier, if you're expecting to die. I wouldn't use enhancers till the second fortify, personally. You could make a mushroomancer set as well (has some boosts..not sure which one's which) but go in, boost/eat your shrooms, go to the tent, switch gear..then go for the fight.
Sleep bombing .. do do doo.. Fortify and divine blessing are what i use on AT monsters - with a GS then the cut and paste damage skills - slower to kill - but highly doable, especially after the second fortify. If you're reaaaaaaally having trouble with dodging, and on fire - consider resusitate. Ups evade distance and stuff while poisoned/on fire. Risky tho.
Get someone with a HH. You said you had a friend. Keep in mind it scales each person - apparently..not one, or many. So, if you have one, HH like deep vero for def, attack - hp bar. and just extra heals while you bounce around with your bow, might be more helpful.
I saw it in an AT video..or a few. do you use impact mantle? Can knock her over too. Might be an idea. Lot's can be done. good luck
11 фев. 2019 в 16:27Took two attempts for myself after purposely leaving after the cut scene so she's not already in the pit with me from the start. I used Dora's Hornet that has rapid fire ice shots, few ice element and hp decorations and I could survive her AoE.
Be sure to bring Astera Jerky for healing up the red portion of your HP if you don't have a health booster down during some of her attacks. She's got some of the worst hit boxes for areas where she's critical especially for bows/LBG/HBG's.
And as mentioned above Cool Drinks are a life saver for negating her flame aura.

Special Arena is a Location in Monster Hunter World (MHW). Different areas of the game have a different look and feel, map and special unique monsters that spawn within them.
Special Arena (Japanese Name) is a small place niched in a dry and rocky ravine, the Research Commission uses it to have hunters fight with captured monsters and study them. The camp is linked to the arena by a ropelift allowing the Hunter to fly above the abîme safely. The Special Arena is composed of two ground level in a circular shape, rigged with tools and traps to aids hunters in dealing with their foes.

I don't unlock the 2nd quest after talking to the blacksmith. And when I try to join it online, it says I'm not enough far in the story.
I verifyed the integrity of game files, restarted the game, tryed in offline mode; nothing is happening.
I find it annoying to not be able to hunt, especially with friends or the only one is must not to be able to make him . 23 ноя. 2018 в 20:03 Minimum HR requirement is 16 so you need to have fought Xenojiiva before you can get to her. Otherwise you're prob SOL as after completing Blazing Sun, you talk to the Huntsman who acknowledges completion of Blazing Sun and then the smithy who gives you Pandora's Arena. I tested in my old save and it still doesn’t work .
This quest is never avaiable even if we have Iceborne .
Since the time I found another save and I used an editor so that it would be similar to my old save , I didn’t want to start a game again because of a glitch
