Welcome the Ancients Reborn's beginner guide made by the wiki team. This guide is meant to help new player's or even existing players get a basic understanding of the game to make their journey easier. It is always overwhelming when you dive into a new MMO especially AR since it deviates a lot from most mobile games.

To begin, after you have finished the tutorial you will spawn in the mainland where you are free to do whatever you want. You can engage in many activities that most MMO's offer like PVM, PVP, or the more laid back skilling. Whichever path you decide to take there are some things you should know and this guide covers most of them.

Starting Off

This section aims to tell you the general way to start off the game in order to have the easiest experience.

If you've just come off Tutorial Island or are a little lost on how to be "efficient". Then what you should do is buy a Fishing Rod, Pickaxe, or Hatchet from a General Merchant and start skilling while you read this or other guides in the wiki. Most preferably you want to start your journey off by fishing and cooking your fish since this will ease your combat journey. This will be very helpful early and maybe mid/late game since food often becomes a scarce/expensive resource to buy from the Marketplace. Mining/woodcutting are also very essential skills and are more tailored towards making money but you should definitely stick to only 1 since it takes a long time to level.

General Skill Information

Skills are divided into 4 parts that attribute to combat level and 1 that attributes to total Health.

Combat Skills

Combat skills are the basic skills of combat which will improve the player's overall build. With the exception of Vitality these levels should be gained carefully as there is a Combat level cap of 130. This means that only a total of 403 levels can be gained in Strength, Dexterity, Defense, and Intellect altogether. Your melee build can look something like 150 50 206 0, or a range build can look like 1 404 1 1, or an intellect build 1 1 1 404. But you cannot use more than 403 points across the 4 skills as this is capped by the combat level not a particular skill itself.

  • Strength (Improves Melee Damage)
    • Training strength will improve how much damage a player deals with every different melee weapon.
    • Training dexterity will give bonuses across the board for both melee and range. It increases your Ranged Accuracy and Melee Accuracy
    • Training defense will improve the defense of the player which reduces damage dealt to the player and also block which reduces the chance of being hit.
    • Training Vitality increases the maximum health of a player.

Note: Every level of Strength, Dexterity, Defense, or Intellect will grant the player with .32 levels of Combat.

    Weapon Skills

Your Weapon Skills increase all of your offensive and defensive stats. Your Weapon Skills efficiency will only be calculated up to 3.5x your Combat Level (if you are Level 100 Combat, your Weapon Skills will only be counted up to Level 350).

Note: You only gain these bonuses if you are using a Weapon related to that style (Axes for Piercing, Swords for Fencing etc.)

Note: You will only gain defensive bonuses (Defence/Block) if you have increased your Defense Skill

    • Piercing (Mastery of Axes)
    • Fencing (Mastery of Swords)
    • Heavy Weapons (Mastery of Hammers)
    • Magic Staffs(Mastery of Staffs)
    • Ranged Weapons(Mastery of Gathering Skills

    • Mining (Gaining ores to make Bars required for making armor)
    • Fishing (You are strongly advised to level this, as you use fishing to make food to gain health. Important when grinding) (Obtaining logs for making bows and branches for making arrows) (Gathering plants in order to weave them into cloth to make Armour)

    Crafting Skills

    • Metallurgy (Used for making bars, arrowheads, studs and orbs)
    • Blacksmithing(Making Heavy Armour)
    • Cooking (Used for making cooked food that can heal you in combat) (Used to make staves and bow frames) (Turning plants into cloth for armour) (Making Staves, Bows and Arrows) (Making Light Armour)

    Combat Overview

Before you delve into training combat you can watch the following video for some very important tips and information about how to build your stats.

    Melee

    • If you like combat and melee is what you want to focus on there are some things you should know before you start even killing your first monster. There are three weapon types that are discussed more in depth below. Each weapon type has their own skill. These skills consist of Piercing for axes, Fencing for sword and shield, and Heavy Weapons for hammers. Killing a monster will only award experience on the skill for that weapon type. Given the experience curve it is highly recommended not to use more than one weapon type as this will take an extraordinary amount of time. However, unlike Ranged and Intellect (magic), melee uses 3 different combat stats to get accuracy, damage, and defense.

    Ranged

    • Ranged is more intuitive than melee as it really consists of only 1 stat for damage and accuracy which is Dexterity. Leveling up dexterity will give a small bonus in defense but it wont be as significant as leveling the Defense skill. Unlike melee there is currently only 1 weapon type (Ranged Weapons) so there is nothing to worry about other than replenishing arrows.

    Intellect

    • Intellect is very similar to ranged in the way they work in combat. The weapon, in this case a staff, shoots a projectile which will eventually land on the opponent. Similar to ranged it there is also only 1 weapon type so Intellect and the weapon skill Magic Staffs go hand in hand. However, unlike ranged that uses arrows there is nothing to replenish for intellect users other than food since they are very weak defensively. Mages are more structure around damage so they are said to be glass cannons, they can hit very hard but they have very little defense, so they depend on their damage or a lot of food to survive.

    Enchantments

    • A unique feature that you will encounter in Ancients Reborn is the weapon enhancement system. This system is only for equipment used in combat and is used to make a particular weapon or Armour piece stronger. In order to enchant the equipment you must obtain an item called shards. These shards are basically fragments of the specific material equipment are made of. Thus, if you want to enchant a bronze weapon you must use bronze shards. These shards can be obtained by killing monsters or buying them in the in-game store. Then you can upgrade the weapon by going to and Equipment Enhancer. Enchanting a weapon will turn it into a +1 version or a +2 version, the later being the highest. Note. Some monster will drop the +1 version of weapons but not the +2.

    Sockets

    • One of the most recent combat updates introduced sockets for equipment. Players can put gems into these sockets giving them particular boosts specific to the gem placed inside the socket. Each piece of equipment can carry a different amount of gems depending on their size and is proportional to the ratio of bars needed to make the equipment through the Blacksmithing skill. The gems are obtained by killing monsters or by player trading through the Marketplace . The important feature of these gems is that they will help you in combat against certain monsters. Using Gems of the same type as the monster you are fighting is the most important things to consider when preparing for a fight. If the monster you are fighting has a type of Cold then you should use Sapphires in your Armour and any other gem in your Weapons.

    Ancient Points

    • When killing monsters or players in a skulled zone, either Grey, Orange, or Red, you will be granted a certain amount of Ancient Points. Killing monsters will yield a specific amount of AP but killing other players will only award you a percentage of the AP that they currently hold. These points can be used to donate to guild bonuses which award every player in a guild an increased bonus in different skills. Some bonuses give increased experience gained and other give increased percentage of an attribute like attack, defense, block, or health. It can also be used to try and increase the member capacity of a guild.

The information above is just information that all players should know before starting their adventure in Ancients Reborn. The game is not limited to combat only as players can engage on many different activities like Mining, Metallurgy, Blacksmithing, Fishing, Cooking and many others. More information on all of those skills and activities can be found below. You should also be aware that each skill has their own individual page which can be visited by clicking on the yellow text. The individual pages go more in-depth and try to provide all of the information possible.

Note: Please be aware that the wiki is updated by people on their spare time and is a WIP project. There is a lot of information not posted on the wiki so we encourage all players who can to add any information they feel is missing. Also, if you feel like some information is incorrect please do not blame anyone. You should try to find a suitable way to get it fixed by either contacting someone who can or by updating it yourself.

    Gathering Skills Overview

Gathering skills are considered to be skills that involve gathering materials for later processing into useful resources. Currently there are only four general skills which are Mining, Fishing, Woodcutting and Weaving.

    Mining

Mining is a skill in which you gather ores to use in Metallurgy to make ingots which are eventually crafted into Armour through the Blacksmithing skill. In order to start mining, players will have to go to a general shop and purchase a pickaxe. Then one must head towards the first two ores, copper and tin, which are located in various places, mainly north-west of Farmoon or at the mining field in Barville.

Note: For a more in depth guide on mining, visit the Mining Efficiency Guide.

    Fishing

Fishing is a skill where you go to a fishing node and catch raw Cooking resources. These resources can be taken to a Grill where players can set workers to cook anywhere between 1-100 fish each. Besides drops/Food Merchant (which are a source of very bad food), fishing is currently the best method to obtain the best healing resources in the game.

Note: For a more in depth/efficient guide on fishing. visit the Fishing Guide/Strategy page.

    Woodcutting

    Gathering

    Crafting Skills Overview

    Metallurgy

Metallurgy is a skill that allows for players to turn their ores gathered through Mining into ingots which can be used for Blacksmithing. There are two Forges in the world where players can go in order to turn their ores into ingots. One forge is located in Barville while the other is located in Volrock. The skill is very easy however crafting the ores is very time consuming as it uses worker slots which can be used on other things. However, through metallurgy one can make a lot of money if they decide to turn the ingots into equipment or ingots.

Note: For a more in depth guide on metallurgy, visit the Metallurgy Efficiency Guide.

    Blacksmithing

Blacksmithing is a skill in which a player can craft equipment from the ingots made through Metallurgy. There two Anvils where players can go to in order to initiate their Blacksmithing tasks. The closes Anvil to a teleport is currently located in Senatron. Blacksmithing is one of the best ways to obtain Mithril and Adamantium Armour and is the only way to obtain Dianium Armour (it can also be purchased from the Marketplace). It is very time consuming to train as it requires the gathering of ores, making of the ingots, and then the crafting of the equipment itself which all take a long amount of time. However, it is very rewarding as it unlocks the best Armour in the game which can be sold for a hefty profit and can also be used as a source of parts.

Note: For a more in depth guide on metallurgy, visit the Blacksmithing Efficiency Guide.

    General Money Making Tips

If you want to start making money a great way to start is by fishing or mining, whichever you prefer. These are very good skills to make money some initial as they are very AFK. To begin, you need to make some money by killing a few froggers and picking up their skin. Then you must go to the general merchant to sell the skin where you will also be able to buy a fishing rod or a pickaxe. The fish/bars that you get from fishing/mining can be sold to a general store for money if you prefer.

If you want to make money fishing, you should refer to the Fishing Guide/Strategy page.
