Current

The game acts similar to Friday Night Funkin' although players battle against other players, unlike Friday Night Funkin'. Although, there is a Solo option, you get less points, and no wins (or wins streak) from it. If the player hits the notes correctly on time, they get a certain amount of points depending on how accurate the player is, "Sick!" being the best and "Bad" being the worst.

There are many songs featured in the game, including the original songs from Friday Night Funkin', and some from various mods. For example: The B-Side mod, VS Whitty, The Tricky Mod, and Mid-Fight Masses. There are also other song from outside the community, like Touhou themes.

The game is often updated. Songs, animations and emotes are being released over time as new Friday Night Funkin' mods are created.

There are animations and emotes players can buy using the points they earn from playing songs that are based off of character animations from Friday Night Funkin' as well as other references. Animations change what poses players do for hitting arrow, while emotes are animations for the player to sit on the speaker, which can be accessed by jumping on any speaker on the map. Animations and emotes do not change gameplay experience and are purely cosmetic.

As you rap (or "funk") against other players, you gain score. The player with the highest score wins. If the player's scores are the same, it is declared a tie. As you win or lose, you gain points, and with these points, you can buy animations or emotes.

Points

Based on how well you do after completing a song (the amount of notes hit and when they were hit) you will be awarded with a number of points, maximum 50. (You are given points if your opponent backs out regardless.) These points can be used to purchase animations at Bom's shop. (Which is a nod to the Friday Night Funkin' modded character "Whitty"). You can purchase animations, emotes, tags and points (with robux) from the shop.

    • The Bob takeover animation can be obtained by purchasing the Bob animation and Amor animation.
    • Though, instead of the characters getting their own arrow poses like some others, they share 2 each of them. The left and up poses go to the secondary character (Senpai) and the right and down poses go to the player (Monika.)
    • The animation however isn't the same from it's original mod, as you control the robot with levers instead of being inside of the robot.
    • However, it seems the animation itself is not a reference to any specific Sans mods, as the existing Sans mods have different animations.
    • It's Idle animation is based off a ship name Graf Zeppelin. (Note: If you're under 13 it is not recommended to click the link!)
    • However, the animation will unlock when you get both the CJ and Ruby animation.

    Criticism

Funky Friday has been criticized by players for "ripping off Friday Night Funkin'", as both games share similarities. People think that the developer made it so they can get a ton of attention and make a quick buck, although the official FNF developers have stated that they encourage the remake and mods added to the game.
