Each ingredient has four different effects. By default, the first effect, on the top left, can always be found by eating the ingredient. In case the player has the memory Sensitive Tongue unlocked, two or up to all effects are unlocked when eating the ingredient. This could be potential lethal if the ingredient has an effect of Wolf Blood or Chymica however, if the neccesary memories from the Lycanthrope tree aren't learned!.

The second way of finding effects is by selecting two or three ingredients at an alchemy table and combining them to unlock the effects. If an effect is found which unlocked before, it will be mentioned and the effect will then be added to the potion or poison. In case the none of the ingredients have any matching effects, the brewing of the potion will fail and the ingredients are consumed.

The third way of unlocking effects is by finding recipes and reading them. If an potion about Ambrosia, for example, is read, then those effect will be unlocked and it gives the player a recipe, which can be made at any alchemy table.

In case those option fail or unavailable, you can find a list of all effects on the following pages.

Items boosting alchemy or potion strength [ ]

The following items boost alchemy as long as they are equipped:

or Eye of the Scarlett Night boosts the strength of made potions by 7%.
  • Arveldhiinn's Heart is a piece of body armor which increases the strength of potion by 9%.

The following items boost the strength of made items temporarily:

increases the strength of made potion by 15% for 600 seconds.

Wolf blood [ ]

Wolf Blood potion can also have a longer duration when items such as the Weak Shaman Amulet are equipped. Since this effect can be applied to other items with Enchanting, there are more ways of increases duration. It's not known if the effects potion strength raising effect stack with equipment with this effect.

EN-Placeable-Alchemy Lab.jpg

Alchemy in Enderal works exactly like in Skyrim - ingredients have four different effects which are initially hidden, though the first effect can be discovered by simple eating. These are combined at an alchemy station, which is mandatory for any potion or poison creation. Just like in the original Skyrim, alchemy is quite a moneymaker.

Contents

Prerequisites

In order to brew potions, you need:

  • an alchemy lab (OR the Lycantrophe memory "Portable Laboratory")
  • at least 2 different ingredients which share at least one effect

Usage

Interacting with any alchemy lab will open the alchemy interface. There you can select between 2 and 3 different ingredients and try to create a potion with them. A potion will be created if at least two of the used ingredients share the same effect. The strength of the potion is determined through your level in alchemy. The memories of the Vagrant and Lycantrophe can further modify the result. If the ingredients do NOT share the same effect then the brewing will fail (the ingredients will still be consumed). While selecting ingredients to brew potions, already tried (and failed) ingredients/combinations will be grayed out (they can still be selected again).
The interface also allows you to filter ingredients based on their effects. In the left side of the interface you can select the effect you want. If you only have one ingredient with the effect then the text will be greyed out. If you have no ingredient with the effect then the effect won't be listed at all. The filter only works with unlocked effects. To reset the filter, simply click on "Ingredients".
Notes:

  • Even if the effects are hidden, you can still create a potion from matching ingredients and have the effect in the potion. This will also unlock the effect in the ingredients.
  • When brewing a potion that contains the "Chymica" or "Wolf Blood" effect without having invested points in the Lycantrophe tree, the player will be given the choice to remove the effects from the final potion.
  • Successfully creating a potion will reward a tiny amount of xp

Finding effects

Each ingredient has 4 different effects. However, they are initially hidden. In order to reveal them, the following methods can be used:

Eating

The simplest method. Open your inventory and click on the ingredient to eat it. This will apply its effect on you and also reveal it. However, only the first effect (top left) will be revealed by this method unless the memory "Sensitive Tongue" from the Memories of Vagrant is unlocked.
Note: This method is potentially lethal as you will also be afflicted by negative (poisonous) effects. Especially "Wolf Blood" or "Chymica" effects can deliver a quick death if you do not have the appropriate memories of the Lycantrophe.

Experimenting

Another method is to simply try to create potions with different ingredients. As mentioned before, hidden effects will become visible once a valid potion was created with them.
Example: If you mix two ingredients with the hidden effect "Restore Stamina", then the final potion will have the "Restore Stamina" effect and the effect on the used ingredients will be unlocked.

Recipes

Reading recipes will not only tell you which ingredients can be used for the corresponding potion but will also unlock the effect on the ingredients.
Example: If you read a recipe for ambrosia then the "ambrosia" effect on the mentioned ingredients will be unlocked.
