Nicknames can only have their colors changed ошибка

Обновлено: 06.07.2024

This probably seems like a small thing, and silly to complain about. But it really is starting to irritate me! I thought it was because of Twitch Beta, but I have disabled that and still having this problem. The only way to fix it is to remove BTTV from my browser. (I'm using Chrome on Windows 10.)

I have searched the settings thoroughly, and I can not find an option that might affect this. So I can only assume that this is a bug.

EDIT: So. in the course of writing this message, I had temporarily removed BTTV from my browser. After submitting it, I reinstalled it, and was back on the Twitch page. . My name is now coming up with the correct color. O_o I. guess that was all I needed to do to fix it? Hopefully this permanently fixes the problem.

EDIT 2: Sure enough, the next day I log back into Twitch after restarting my computer, and the issue is back. I also figured out a way to compare name colors side by side using 2 different web browsers. The screen shot below shows "without BTTV" on the left, and "with BTTV" on the right, and I've included arrows pointing out the name colors that are being altered by BTTV. (Please let me know if the image doesn't come up.)

Thank you for the response, Nareese. Is there any way to add this as an option that we can turn on and off? Even with that as a feature, I still get names I can't read, and I've gotten used to it. I'd personally rather choose whether to have this feature on or off.

I know it probably seems like a silly thing to complain about, but I am a very aesthetically minded person, and this is really bothering me. It's also doing more "harm" than good, for me, because there are still names I can't read, and the changes in color bother me. In fact, sometimes this "effect" makes names harder to read.

There looks to be a conflict between Twitch's dark theme and ours. Try disabling theirs and enabling ours. This will eventually be fixed.

I am disabling BetterTTV because of this functionality. The animated emotes are fun, but unconfigurable, undesired modifications to the user experience are not.

I also just installed BTTV and got confused with my custom color being changed. I think there should at least an option for this. I want to see the colors as it is and not how BTTV decided to show them.

@night Switching color themes doesn't achieve anything. So it doesn't seem like it got 'eventually fixed' during more than the past 3 years.

Am sorry, but I just tested it with your suggestion /nick "colorusername" by using /nick "&asdjkhf"
Now it's output with Error: Nicknames can only have their colors changed.

You could use a nickname, for instance
do /nick &1capndod or you can do /nick &1c&2a&3p&4n&5d&6o&7d for a rainbow name :biggrin.jpg:

I was trying to make a Rainbow name myself, and couldn't believe what a pain it was.
Just so I never had to deal with it again I made a text to minecraft rainbow text webpage.

You simply input what you want to be in rainbow and it outputs the text in minecraft rainbow.
From there just copy and paste.

I can post the source code if anyone cares that much. Just makes it alot easier than spending 10 minutes making your nickname rainbow
If anyone likes the webpage, I could make one to fully configure how you want it to look. As of its current stage it only outputs rainbow

I see people with green, yellow, and other username colors and frames on their profile. How does one do this?

yellow borders are holiday profile modifiers either from christmas or lunar new year, any others represent their current status online/in game etc.

Blue is Online, Green is In-game, Yellow/Gold are from sale profiles and Purple (I think) is watching a stream/broadcast.

you have to spend money during the events, and once u get that set amount of coins u can buy the border for a certain amount of time, they all go away after a hot minute
