Key Items in Nioh 2 are special Items that provide unique abilities or effects. Key Items can vary from Blacksmith Recipies to Usuable Items that can be used indefinetly, while other like the Ochoko Cup can be used to summon a Visitor. Below you can find information on all key Items in Nioh 2.

Some Key Items can be quickslotted to shortcuts that respond to the up, down, right and left functions of the d-pad.

Divine Rice

Can be used at the Kodama's Bazaar.

Special rice offered to the gods at events like festivals, and given to the attendees once the festival comes to an end. Imbued with pure divine energy, kodama love to eat it.


Divine Branch Fragment

A splinter of a sacred tree used as a holy vessel in religious rituals. Using this item consumes all of your Amrita, but allows you to quit a mission and return to the starting point. (In certain missions and the tutorial, using it will not cost you Amrita.)

Words taken from Katsuie's reconciliation with koroku.

"I had always looked down on yokai kind, but you are not half bad. The next time we meet on the battlefield, I want you watching my back!"


Foreign Necklace


Wooden Kannon Sculpture

A wooden carving of the deity Kannon, gifted by Tadakatsu.

Tadakatsu was wont to dedicate himself to woodcarving, and was said to be unexpectedly skilled at it. This particular sculpture was gifted to Hide, whom Tadakatsu acknowledged as a formidable rival, with the intention of providing divine protection on the battlefield.

Saigyo's Poem I

A poem composed by the wandering poet Saiyo during a visit to western Japan. The poem was penned as he recalled old friend that lived in Ichinomiya in Aki Province.

"As the sound of the waves keeps me awake, moonlight filters through the roof to keep me company like an old friend."


Saigyo's Poem II

A poem composed by the wandering poet Saiyo during a visit to Oshu. It touches upon the splendor of the Fujiwara clan.

"Traveling through the cold that froze me to my very core, today my eyes were finally treated to the sight of Koromogawa."


Saigyo's Poem III

A poem composed by the wandering poet Saiyo after entering the priesthood and living in solitude in Kurama. The poem speaks of a lingering attachment to worldly things.

"As I lament the water frozen in this bamboo pipe, I yearn for the return of the springtime I had once disdained."


Smithing Text: Bloodstained Cleavers

An ancient text on forging weapons. It describes the technique for making the "Dual Bloodstained Cleavers."

Village Gate Key

A bloodied and rusted key that unlocks the path leading out of the village to the main road. The road, flanked by a marketplace, appears to extend all the way to the gate of the pass.


Grilled Tang Sweet

A grilled sweet made of pounded rice glazed with ivy sap. Just as its name implies, it originated in China, having been brought to Japan by an envoy. It was primarily presented as an offering Buddhist altars, but eventually became a favorite of monks and nobles, who would eat them in secret, and some yokai, who could not resist its sweet taste. Even hidden in one's pocket, the sweet aroma fills the surrounding air, like the scent of the most fragrant blossoms.

Underworld Lapiz Lazuli

Presenting this to Ono no Takamura will allow you to receive and strengthen blessings in the underworld.

A gem found in the Underworld, Lapiz Lazuli is regarded as one of seven treasures in the teachings of Buddhism. When Yama still served as judged to those sen there, the Underworld was decorated with lapiz lazuli that shone brilliantly. However, they scattered and lost after a great calamity occured.

Character Creation Codes are special Codes for Nioh 2 that allow players to share their original character creations. You can save your code and screenshots by selecting "Save" and "Share" from the character menu. For details on options see Character Creation. Note that codes for the PS4 version of the game won't work with the PC version (at the time of writing).

Codes for the PC version begin with an "S-". (Needs verifying)

How do I Share my Code?

To share your code, take a screenshot via the "Share" menu under "Save", and then upload the image to your PC via USB drive or by sending it in a private message and then opening your PSN messages in the Playstation Site in a web browser.

To add to the wiki:

  1. Edit the image with paint to make it 300px wide to be able to upload images.
  2. Click "Edit" on the top right of the page, Then go to the placeholder [Character IMG] below and click the image button to upload your creation.
  3. Add the image below and type the code so others can copy it easily
  4. Name your creation and click "save"
